Did I ruin my prop???

I was making my own prop, everything was going great. I put it in the oven on a piece of aluminum foil on a cookie sheet to dry it like I read on a thread, 175 degrees for 2 hours. It was only in for about an hour, I come back downstairs to check on it and it looks like about 70% of the powder melted! It looks kinda like peanut brittle. I can scrape it off of the foil pretty easily. Can I still use this or did I just fuck it all up???

I added all of what used to be powder into the oil jar and shook it up for several minutes and let it sit overnight.....it's ruined! :crying:

I ordered another kit, I think this time I'll only bake it for 15 min or so...

You baked just the oil? I'm not 100% sure of what you are saying, but it seems like you put the powder in the over and cooked it.

PLease explain a little better

I got to the step where you pour the solution into the dust mask (painter caps) and then all the powder was left in the masks. I then took all of the powder out and put it on a piece of aluminum foil and put that on a cookie sheet and baked it just under 200 degrees (my oven only goes as low as 200 on the dial) for about an hour and when I came down to check on it, all the powder had melted and turned into what looked kinda like peanut brittle minus the peanuts.

I have seen SO MANY guys ruin thier experiment by drying the powder in the oven.

Just leave the powder on a plate and let it air dry.......it takes a few days, but I would rather wait a little longer, and have a nice pile of powder, then to have my oven get to hot, and melt my stuff all over the place.

i read somewhere if you got problems like that with your oven you can leave the oven door open put on the lowest setting and even loosely cover the powder with tin foil (still letting air seep in and out) and point a fan OUT of the oven so its kinda exhusting some of the hot air you could play around with it if you got a thermometer. get it to a lower temperature.
