Does it matter if I get most of my protein from shakes?

You mad Bro

I am banned!
I've ran into a little unexpected trouble, if you've seen my previous thread about me being injured I've had to take 3 days off work, I might have to take tommorow off work aswel and I also had to pay £16 for my prescription.

So I'm currently low on money, my next pay Is not going to be too good and my parents never buy food high in protein, the majority of the foods in my house is carbs, so I will have to get most of my protein intake from shakes. Does it make a difference?

Yes it makes a difference. If you are short on cash just get some cheap chicken, turkey or something. I spent like $6 on a pound of turkey yesterday.. not too bad. And got a bag of 3 pounds of tilapia fillets for like 8 bucks (on sale). Protein shakes are good, but you need REAL food too. It's much more important. Get over half your protein from food.

Sure, it's fine. Most people will tell you lean protein foods are much better than a shake. But, plenty of folks get a large portion of their protein intake from shakes. Does it make a difference .... probably... at least a bit, you will get plenty of conflicting opinions on this. I would just try to eat as much lean protein as you can and drink the shakes to keep the protein intake at a reasonable level until you can get the right food in the house.

No. Let me be much more clear: EAT MORE PROTEIN, DRINK LESS

By the time you spend 40 dollars on protein and it lasts two weeks you aren't coming out ahead by a whole lot anyway. It is worth it to eat.

Buying food is not an option anewguy, I really am out of money now, if I didn't have to pay for a prescription I probably would of gone out and bought tuna and cottage cheese or looked for offers like you said, $6 for a lb of turkey, nice find bro, I'm from UK and meat at the moment seems to be really high in price :( . I'll have to dig around my freezer and see if I can find anything worth eating. :D I have 5kg of cookies and cream myprotein whey protein, so that will last a while.

Cost me £55/$86 for 5kg of whey protein. So not too bad my previous lot was cheaper because it was unflavoured, cost me £41, I like to normally get most of my intake from food and the rest from shakes. But in this situation I'm in, I'll be getting most from my shakes which sucks. :(

Better start mowing some lawns! LOL

Seriously though, try to find a way. If I remember right, you are currently on a cycle. Would be a REAL shame to waste the $ spent on gear over some food. Sorry, I understand being broke but you gotta try to find a solution. Maybe tell your parents you'll cook every night if they buy you food.. Hell IDK. Be proactive haha

Dude, we feel your pain. Don't sweat this. Just drink the shakes ... it's a temporary situation. Get most of your protein from food when you are able to get the right food in the house ... if all else fails, drink the shakes.

I couldn't mow the lawn if I wanted to, I can barely walk aha. I've had to take 4 days off gym so far, probably going to take me another 4 days to fully recover, bad luck huh?

I'm 4 weeks into my tren cycle, I get paid again in 8 days I could use some money to buy food but I'd have to be very wise with the way I spend it because having missed 3/4 days work it's going to be a poor wage, I'll then get paid 2 weeks after that a good wage, I don't think I have ruined my cycle. I have whey protein, there's enough carbs in the house, I do have some foods in protein although not as much as I would like. I'll ask my mum next week to buy me some protein foods.

Living the bodybuilding lifestyle is so exspensive! I know people who go out drinking 3 times a week, buy clothes all time and have more money than me, all I do Is work go gym eat and buy steroids occasionally.

I hear that man. People that don't eat anything until dinner, and then have fast food for that meal. I mean some people spend $8 / day on food... I spend more like 25-30 at least.

What is injured? I think I remember reading it, but not sure. Your leg?

Yes it does man. Most powered proteins only contain 40-70% protein and higher end proteins still only contain 60-75% eggs are the best source of overall protein along with most fish. 88% of eggs and most fish that you consume are converted into muscle building tissue! eat up man. I actually quit taking protein shakes about a year ago but thats just me. When im done working out I mix about 3 raw eggs in with 100% orange juice and blend it up as my protein shake.

Do you know anybody that has a booker cash and carry card????? 20 pound for 5kg of skinless chicken breast, it's really good quality and doesn't shrink when you cook it. I buy 10 kg every 2 weeks and freeze it individually and that last 2 weeks.

Heard of bookers, but unfortunately I don't know anyone :( was looking on their website and their offers seem amazing, I wish they would just sell to the general public.

I trust myprotein brand tbh, It most likely does have more than 40%-70% What do you think about MyProtein products? - Fitness Inventor

If I were to use any powdered protein i would probably use Afterglow! My childhood best friend is a manager at a complete nutrition and we have both been using it for a couple yrs (me,not for the last yr). But hes gotten great results and so did I...and it tastes amazing..damnn

"man made" protein is shit. Harder on kidneys and less is used by the body.

I only use protein powders for emergency meals.

Yer its pretty amazing there, i'm lucky one of my old buddys works there so he managed to get me a family/friend card so I can buy there. If you know someone that is self employed I think there is away they can get a card.

How is it less used by the body and harder on the kidneys? I've never heard of any having to be hooked up to a dialysis because they had 1 too many protein shakes.

Sorry for the sarcasm but expand please? Same, I much prefer food.
