Dorian Yates Blood and Guts Routine

ive watched all the blood and guts routines on youtube. i think its a really good workout without a doubt. he knows whats up, its not like p90x or some fad workout routine, its legit!! but i have only done the workouts a couple times, never the full program.

definitely good routines..low volume/high intensity always works for me. you'd need a training partner to really push though with low volume workouts..

i am going to be giving this a shot as well .. but might have to split it up a lil different..

mon- chest/bicep
wed- back
fri- shoulder/tricep
sat- legs

pretty much b/c those are the days i can make it to the gym time wise.. i do my cardio on off days ...

There would be no problem splitting it like that.

I've been doing this for about a month now to change things up.

My split is:
Monday - chest/bi's
Tuesday - Delts/Tri's
Thursday - Back
Friday - Legs

I really like it but it's hard to do like he says without a partner. I do it so that on my last rep I'm really struggling to get the rep finished.

I know one thing about this routine, is that it's VERY hard to convince yourself that one working set is actually enough workout to make your muscles grow

:eek::eek::eek::eek:

that would kill me ..

I train in Dorians style, every session. Taking my body to failure.

Dorians style of training is the best i've seen and used and he is the body builder who i most idolise, his attitude and mind set towards bodybuilding was one of a kind.

Just started this routine this week and so far I am sore as fuck.

It is hard to come to terms with one working set doing anything, but he sure as hell knows what he's talking about so I'll stick with it and see where it takes me.

Ive been using this style routine for this years bulk. Its a total mind fuck with the limited amount of sets and excersices. But I have to say after 4 weeks I am impressed, numbers are climbing both in the gym and on the scale. I also love the fact that I am in and out of the gym in 40mins. Big change from 1.5 hours 6 days a week.

The best way to train imo.
dead easy, one set to failure, write down what you did, come back next week and beat it. when you plateau add more rest days. arthur jones and mentzer worked this out years ago and Yates built a monster physique using more or less the same principles. the routine on bb.com is pretty good but you can mix it up how you like with different excercises. The hardest part is the siege mentality and really going to absolute failure on the difficult stuff like legs and not stopping short cos it hurts. Its not for most because of that reason but is the best way to get big quick.

It has worked for me in the past, but makes my joints sore as all hell after a few weeks.
Get the test, anadrol, chalk and red meat ready!

Mike Mentzer actually helped him perfect this routine. Mentzer's was less frequent, but the principles are near identical.
I haven't tried Yates' routine, but I've been using Mentzer's principles for awhile and have seen the best strength gains ever. I'm thinking about trying the Blood and Guts deal within the next few weeks though. Good stuff.
