I enjoy a cigar every now and then...

...I am your Father
However, too often imo. I am interested in trying Champix, a popular script for smoking cessation. Is there any known contraindictions with Champix and gear? I have heard of increased hormonal imbalance, but not sure if this is true...

theres been enough side effects from that stuff that the company i work for has banned its use by employees . if they find out that your taking it they will pull you out of service for medical hold.

Seriously, for a cigar every now and then? I was a pack a day smoker and used it to quit. It worked and I had no major issues but I do here of sides. I did start up again a year later and the second time I quit with the patch. You have to really really want it to quit, otherwise nothing will work for you.

I guess this stuff is like Zyban or the mind altering drug by another name Wellbutrin.
You should know that this stuff alters the way you think. A guy who has been eating oatmeal every morning for breakfast will suddenly switch to cream of wheat without giving any thought to it... lol

I take wellbutrin and have had no such changes. And chantix basically blocks your body from feeling the affects of nicotine. I'm sure it does fuck you up in other ways though as many ppl have had a lot of sides with it.

Well that's just the idea behind it... It's designed to change your habbits. Not as drastic as the oatmeal thing but you get what I mean.

It gave me anxiety and a bunch of other sides like insomnia. It almost felt like I was looking at the world through a bubble...

Cigars are not cigarettes. If you're having withdraw symptoms from cigars then you're probably smoking a few too many a day. Cut back and see how it goes. I smoke one a couple of times a week (got one blazing right now) and I have no desire to give up one of life's finer pleasures for the sake of tacking on a few months to the end of my burned out, well-worn, thoroughly enjoyed life.

I think all of us to some degree have resigned to the fact that we're shortening our lifespan to an extent in order to pursue a better quality of life overall, rather than just opting to see how long we can stick around. I think if you're using gear the cigars are the least of your concerns. Like everything else in life, chemical substances are best enjoyed in moderation. I have yet to find a legit reason to eliminate them, though.

Wow bro, I'm really surprised you're having an issue with this. I love my cigars! There's nothing better than an H. Upman Magnum 50 IMO. I don't smoke inside because I dont want my kid exposed to it, which means its pretty much cold turkey (pun intended) during the winter months. I've never had any issue. I don't know if the particular brand that is a sponsor here is any good, but I know a lot of people are trying e-cigs to ween themselves off. I'm very skeptical of it, but I also know a lady that swears that hypnosis worked for her. So maybe you could look into that.

Thank you gentlemen. I guess it's not a big deal a cigar once in awhile, just want to stop as I go thru a pack of peach primetimes a week as well. All the cons to that Champix shit, doesn't sound worth it.

ive had chantix on my shelf for a year and a half..lol, I need to quit so bad, but I enjoy smoking...I still run 1 or 2 miles every other day, and it doesnt slow me down...

There was this one Bodybuilder, named Arnold, who smoked lots of cigars and pot. He turned out to have a fairly good physique!

I used to smoke cigarettes, then quit by smoking (and inhaling) cigars. I have since quit, you know when you are doing something right or doing something 'wrong'

cuban montecristos #4 torpedos i smoke twice a week. Love the past time and wouldnt give it up.

How many of yall think that cigars are better than cigarettes or cigarettes are better than cigars??

I highly recommend an ecig for quitting/cutting back...
I smoke mine more than I care to admit lol:)

Now Nicotine can't ever really considered 'healthy', but in studies it's been shown less harmful than caffeine... It's the tar and carcinogens that will get you which are absent w/ ecigs.

PM me if you want some rec's as all ecigs are not created equal...
