infection at injection site? can it go away?

I was testing out subcutaneous injections with sterile water. Right before i was about to inject i jerked and needle went flying. I mechanically picked it up and felt like putting more solution in so i go right from needle stuck in the floor to vial then i was having problem getting air bubbles out. Finally put dirty needle under skin even though i knew i needed to start over.

Now there is a small centimeter in diameter red circle and i was able to drain some fluids last night. The .01 ml of fluid was thick and dark yellow but translucent. The lump under the skin didnt come back after 8 hours of draining it and feels better.

Can this heal on its own?

First, always use a sterile needle. A needle that touches even the counter sink is NOT sterile....throw it away and get fresh needle. Cheap insurance!!!!! .20 per syringe. Keep an eye on it. If it gets redder, or larger or swells or begins to itch.......go get antibiotics from MD. Better to spend $50 copay for Antibiotics and MD visit, then the WORSE alternative. If you have no insurance, then cough up money to heal it. Better that then losing a chunk of muscle or even worse!!!!

WOW....I'm sure you will be fine, you're lucky you didn't IM though....just keep an eye on it, antibiotics if necessary

And for God's sake....please don't do something stupid like that ever again!!!!

Um...what the helll were you thinking?"can this heal on its own" None of us are certified Dr.s. It could...but it could also get worse. If your draining fluid from the inject site thats never a good thing. Normal pip/swelling will occur but fluid=infection.. Either you need antibiotics or worse case (for this matter) a visit to your doc.

very stupid to do this you are.

you lucky not deep.
if it get worse do to doc, you can die fromt his stuff you know.

why hell would you do all this?
sounds so bad it sound fake.

hope you better if not fake

Okay guys.......I think he learned his lesson. We all have done "silly" things as a newbie. Just keep an eye on it. If any worsening, then see an URGENT CARE clinic ASAP. Better to lose $100 then amputate an extremity due to infection that can lead to gangrene!!!!!!

damn bro you are fucking awesome. i've seen a few of your other posts here, and damn I'm going to +rep you. It must take balls to be as stupid as you are... +rep

I forget where I bought it but I bought this stuff online called fishplex I think .. Ill check when I get home and let u know, but its deep tissue antibiotic that's same as u get from doc but its made for "fish" and it's good to keep on hand if no insurance. And I think it was only 30 bucks..ill update with better info later

Ill be sure to keep an eye on it. I surly dont want to get amputated so im going to go the the doc if it swells back up to the way it was. So far its stayed the same size as it was last night. Ill never do this again becaue i know better now.

I don't believe the OP. There's no way anyone considering using injectables is this careless. On top of the fact that the needle would have been very dull from the floor to the bottle into the arm

Ya...dude was talking about injecting IGF-1 directly into his balls on another thread

Back with update.

The needle also contained a very small amount of unsteralized coconut oil.

The mark stayed the same size and no build up of fluids is present. Skin thickness back to normal.

Changes in color are as follows. Original steak color is darkening to scab color. There is a small amount of dark purple crust forming like a typical scab. Slight depression noticed.

Concerned about the redness forming around the outer edges. This is typically how most of my scabs look as they form so im not to worried at this point. Still wondering how it happened and waiting for symptoms to worsen before doctor.

Ive been meaning to ask a doctor if you can really die from eating crap. I heard that our poo containes salmonila and ecoli. If thats true then all the times theres an ecoli outbreak its from crap getting into the food.
