injury from squats

i did a really intense quad workout last thursday, and tonight when i started working my way up, it felt like my quads were ripping off towards the top. The black dots on the pick show exactly where i am experiencing this pain.

its real weird, i never had pain in this area, but now i have it on both sides... anyone else get this?
 
I used to get that when I ran a lot, bad where I had to limp. Yesterday got it on one side when i was dead lifting. No idea what it is.

is the pain specificaly in the front of the hips/quads or on the side of the hips?

its on the side of my legs, close to the hips but its definatley at the top of my quad.

i stopped doing elliptical machine, since i was doing it every morning for about the past 4 weeks.... im thinking that is the problem, as it is the only thing i have really changed recently.

legs day is on thursday, so hopefully i will be able hit em properly
 
If I do too narrow of a stance or my toes are pointed inward too much then I get pain in that exact spot.
 
just got back from the docs, on my right quad, my "IT band" is enflamed and really tender...

the next few weeks my leg workout and cardio will be replaced by Ice and anti-inflammatories

didnt even know i had anything in me called an "IT band"
 
ilio tibial band
same thing as the TFL, it's a fibrous band that runs laterally from your hip to your knee
try some stretches for it too
