Is every Dr. like this? 280 T and refuses to help.

Hello,

Just a newb saying thanks for all of the info you guys have put together. I'm 41 and miserable after about 15 years ago I went through a bad accident and several surgeries that really screwed up my metabolism due to a lot of medications. Sorry to hear so many people deal with the same issue of a Dr. that feels that you don't need TRT when he said I was below the normal range. I've been dealing with low T for over 2 years diagnosed yet untreated and I can't deal with it anymore. I'm glad to find a place that actually sees it from my side. I keep hearing adds on the radio of a men's clinic 2 hrs away and all they talk about is men having low T and there health suffering because of it. They do mention E.D. a lot but.. I'm hoping they will help even tho E.D. isn't my problem. I'm sick of feeling like crap all the time. I can't keep the weight off of my mid section anymore and the brain fog is getting worse and my energy levels just keep going down. Went to another Dr. and he tested again and it showed low T and under active thyroid and I explained that there has been a history of this in my family yet he said that he didn't feel comfortable prescribing anything. The area that I am from is very conservative but give me a break!!! I'll keep reading and seeing what my options are if this clinic doesn't work out. At least, I see that things can get back to normal with my health.

Thanks,

What is your LH, FSH, Prolactin and estradiol at? What time of the day was your blood work taken for the Total Testosterone of 280ng/dl?

Weight? Height? Body fat%? Any other health issues such as: thyroid or sleep apnea?

280ng/dl puts you at hypogonadal levels. Your doc should treat you. There are serious longterm health risks to being hypogonadal.

Have you checked out the Basic TRT Overview thread?

The last was done over a year ago. The test was done at 9:00am after 12 hr fast. I just recently moved so finding that paper would take a miracle. I'm going to go ahead and get tested again within the next two weeks as work allows. Things are pretty crazy as they are for most people today.

The Basic TRT thread? Yes read through that 2 hours ago. I tried to discuss needing something done with my DR. to help but it was a brick wall. Seems weird but I've known him for 10 years so I didn't want to push him on it. The clinic I keep hearing about does an initial evaluation for $199. They talk about getting a shot to get an erection or you pay nothing lol. As I said not the issue that I have but they seem more willing to look at the complete issue of low T. They have good reviews and seem the starting point for me. I just hope that they are open to adjusting treatments as you have discussed in other threads.

Height: 5' 11"

Weight: 240lbs

BF% 25%

I've cleaned up my diet over the past 2 months and I am working out again. I see the way my health is heading and I know that I need to change alot of things. Moved up into upper-management at work so that has put 15 lbs on me in 4 months due to being stuck behind a desk or in meets most of the day.

After reading what I have typed I really am a mess lol.

Thanks,

You might want to consider contacting iMT. They are a sponsor here. They treat a lot of guys here for Low T. I don't use them personally, but a lot of guys are very happy with their services. It would not cost you anything to reach out to them.

For losing weight have you considered a ketogenic diet? Believe me, I know how hard it is when you are fighting hypogonadism, but give it a look.

If you have the courage, post a pic of you body with your head cropped off. I am guessing you are more than 25% body fat.

I wouldn't doubt that I'm over that %. Its one of the scale style BF%. Doing the math I figured closer to 32%. No worries its just a starting point and a place to move from. I was looking into the iMT site so I may hit them up. I'm still undecided as to suppliers. Main goal right now is to eat clean and workout hard. I always did well with carb restrictive programs so I'll hit that up starting within two weeks.

Just remember that hypogonadism is very bad for your health. Don't let it persist. You need to treat it.

Makes it next to impossible to lose weight too. I learned this the hard way. ;)

To answer your question OP: No. Not all doctors are that way, just shitty ones that have no business looking at hormones. Sadly, there are more of them than quality docs - but they do exist.

I second the notion of contacting IMT. I would definitely be with them if I didn't have financial constraints due to being back in school.

I do see the benefits in having more control of your treatment so I may just go that route. Thanks for the insight.

The only thing that I do hate is the fact that I feel that my body has turned on me and let me down.

I was in the military and the chemical industry for years and was exposed to some pretty nasty chemicals and radiation to a small extent. We always joked in the military about how none of us could have sons. Seriously, out of probably 70 in my flight only 1 had a boy in over 5 years. We had one officer that was at 7 girls and him and his wife just gave up on having a son. I didn't really think about the long term effects that I would be looking at so now I get to deal with this.

I've contacted 3Js and am set up for the 1 yr program. I'll set up a thread in the journal section to keep track of everything. Thanks for all of your advice so far and I hope to benefit from more of it as time goes on.

You just get that help you deserve! I would advise you to be smart about, get your information about low T and your statistics. -300 is the testosteron level for a 90year man or even less. You do not have to suffer like me, push through and get what you need.

One thing you can do is tell your doctor to refer you to an endocrinologist. Pass the buck, so to speak, if he is worried about the fake studies that show issues caused by TRT. When you get to the endo, tell him that your doctor was unwilling to help but that you trust specialists more and that you know his extra training will ensure you get the best treatment. Yeah, kiss ass, but if it gets you the scripts you need it is worth it. Play to the ego of the doctor, most have huge ones.
