Is it bad to have your Free testosterone too high?

For years the BB community has thought a higher free roaming testosterone will increase androgenic affects, I am guilty of this too.

SHBG is the carrier protein for testosterone, so while it makes sense that SHBG be low, its like anything else, too low is bad too high is bad, keep in mind the range means nothing, it is in relation to TT.

If you have really low SHBG it could simply mean you don't have enough to carry the testosterone to its target tissues, SHBG does not bind perm to testosterone, it is attaching and releasing continuously.

To make things even more complicated, recent literature suggests that SHBG participates in cross-talks, in other words, it may play a role in the the ability for the androgen to effectively activate a receptor.

This is just further proof that more of one hormone is not always better (test) it is better and results will show, if all hormones are optimized, this is where the synergy lies.

you know I have thought this also in passed about SHBG maybe being needed to get test to some places.
but then seen how being on cycles for a long time (or for ever for some) seem to lower gains and have higher SHBG. making me link well higher SHBG = less out of the aas and where the receptor myth came from. (for those that use aas alot)
then it seems if its only test, it lowers SHBG over time? (test cycles that is and i guess hrt also)

really makes you wonder

thanks for the thinker!

I would say its a mixed bag, coming off every once in a while may help this issue too, and maybe thats why you saw a rise.

SHBG is also made in the liver so it could be a functionality problem, diet I am sure plays a key role as well.

So its like anything else from what I can tell, it happens one way for some and the opposite for others, exactly why will be very hard to figure out I bet :)

I havnt had my Shbg done but once and it was before I started testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) . Numbers were this
total t 202/ 340-1197
Bioavail test 132/128-430
Bioavail percent 65.1%
Shbg 16/20-60
This test was done in late July of this year
I started taking testosterone in August at 100 mg e5d then jumped
Taking 150 e5d. I have almost felt worse at times.

Yeah todd told me to drop to 80 as well. But I think I will try Mabey 60. I just don't know how much Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) to do
I have only taken one Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) shot of 200iu. Just started hcg. My latest labs for thyroid are
T3 uptake 29 % 22-35
Tsh 1.89
T4 free 1.1/0.8-1.8
T3reverse 29/11-32
Am cortisol 10

Please always consult with your physician before changing your program :)

Try 350 E3-4days at first, or up to 500.

Most guys on Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) Mono-therapy take about 600IU a week to get their T to 600 or so. I would imagine you might need a little more due to the testosterone.

I am not great with the thyroid but looks decent to me, T4 us a tad low, it seems your cortisol could be low too. Blood test is bad for that one though.

I did do a salivary cortisol and I was low normal all day. I am afraid to do HC. Are there better ways to get cortisol higher
Or should I give the t more time and get it dialed in. My temps have been low, but I am dosing iodine and they seem to have climbed a bit. Just so damn brain fogged anxious and tired

I have low SHBG as well

This is interesting, and now has me wondering if this has been what has happened to me. I have been on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) for close to 3 years now, and the last 1.5 years have seemed nothing like the first 1.5 years. Libido, energy, and muscle gains have decreased dramatically. I have tried to attribute it to E2 at times, the receptor myth, etc., but I have not gotten back to that sweet spot...

I have been on HRT for almost a year with basically no benefits and my SHBG is low as well. I have reduced my Test big-time starting about a month ago but I don't feel any better yet.I don't seem to convert any Test to DHT, either so I have no libido. Thinking hard of doing PCT and forgetting about HRT entirely.

Been using HCG all along

Are you doing hcg?

Yes, I have been doing Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) all along (11 months now) 500 E3D. I did go one month without Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) but nothing felt any different. It does not make me horny or make my testicles grow like it seems to do for most guys.

This has been my big source of frustration; no matter what I try everything feels the same, which basically feels the same as before I started Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT).

Guys always say to go by how you feel more than what the blood tests show, and that makes total sense, but in my case I have never feel anything and never felt “good” no matter what I have tried so far.

Yeah so far I am having same results. Adrenal fatigue might be my problem. It has been shy of three months now for me
