my workout was totaly ruined.....

i agree, i had a very similar problem with dropping the deadlift bar and all, but unfortunatly my gym doesnt allow chalk... so i picked up a resin bag, it works.. but its just not the same.. chalk is amazing. definatly give it a shot.

I generally use straps on my deads, simply b/c my grip is only good for about 315 (and I'm lucky to get all my reps, even on the first set). With the straps, however, I've pulled as much as 550 with straps, but I'm lucky to get over 385 without, even chalked up.

I do a dedicated grip workout on Wednesdays (most of the time, unless my schedule is just too jacked up to do it), and it still doesn't help that much. My grip only improves on pace, or maybe slightly behind pace, with my pulls.

Exactly why I started using straps. I was against them for a while thinking it was the easy way out. Problem is, if your grip doesn't increase at the same rate as your other muscle groups, you can end up doing what seems like a heavy dead or row workout, and the muscles that get the hardest work are your gripping muscles. If you can't overload the other muscle groups due to grip limitations, get straps and/or chalk for now and work on the grip separately.

I do farmers walks and use captains of crush grippers to bring my grip strength up.
