New Bench Press PR Today

Today was max day on bench. My first attempt was at 345
and i got it.
I failed on my second attempt at 350 3/4 way up.

I weigh 173.5 on my digital scale today, so looks like I am a couple of pounds away from benching twice my bodyweight.

I use no bench shirt.

Any ideas on how to break through that barrier 3/4 way up on bench. I had trouble getting to the point right before lockout. Usually i get stuck midway up.
 
Triceps, I am fine with CG benching for now but you can throw in lockouts if you like them.

I'm hitting a PR every week, but at my height I dont think I'd hit double bodyweight till I bench 550.

I was thinking of doing some lockout work and some work with boards to help.

I guess it pays to be a little guy sometimes when it gets to lifting twice your weight on something. Anyway, good job on your PR's.
 
outstanding bro . rack lockouts and board presses should put you over the top next time .

I still feel weak. I have thought about it but never even seriously thought about competing. It would be fun.

go to a meet and look at the guys in your weight class- you won't feel weak.
 
congrats bro, for your weight thats a very nice lift. Not alot of people your size can put that up
 
thats definilty some awesome shit. i only weigh a few more lbs than you and i cannot lift that kind of weight yet. def compete.
 
Congrats. I'd kill to do 2x my bodyweight now that I've gained so much :(.

Like they said, boards and rack work will help you beat that sticking point.
 
Like yourself, my tris, shoulders and chest have always been strong. I am 190lbs and can bench 425 clean and 315 for high reps (12+). I only wish my legs would catch up. I can only do the same type of sets/weight on deep squats - which is sad relative to my bench but i'm working hard on it.
