New TRT Plan - Looking for Guidance

So, I've had a very long conversation with TRT doc. He is a proponent of T injections and has studied under Dr. Rouzier. He (they) are not big on HCG unless you want to have kids. I don't (I'm 50).

I see many here say that they think HCG should be part of regular program. On the cover, this doc seems great. He uses this protocol for himself and most of his patients and says that he and Dr Rouzier have had great success with this. My question - is this advised or should I push for HCG? I think he has some flexibility but he also generally believes less is more.

I personally do not use HCG, I am not able to have children so it isn't needed, there are others here that don't use HCG so if you feel good about this doctor then you are miles ahead of others who can't find a decent doctor.

Good Luck!

If you don't want kids, that's fine. But there's more to hCG than fertility. A lot more.

hCG activated the P450 enzyme pathway to steroidogenesis, so you covert better pregnenolone and DHEA, which have a role in energy, memory and a host of other benefits. Furthermore, without hCG, you need to inject testosterone twice weekly for stable serum. hCG can be used to balance that "Dip" and you can inject testosterone once weekly. Unless you're using the new compounded testosterone that can slide through a 30g bore, it's much easier to SubQ one of those injections with hCG. Of course , there's always atrophy to prevent.

Spunkey71,

How long have you been taking just the T? Injections? Any testes atrophy? Other issues?

Austinite,

You are a wealth of knowledge and I, and I'm many others here, very much appreciate your input.

My discussions with doc have been SubQ and multiple weekly injections. He isn't opposed to hCG but said he's had good success without for his patients. He also mentioned that it is very expensive and not really needed unless I plan on kids. I'm still unsure and you raise some more questions in my mind. Would you start a TRT program without hCG?

Lastly, Test E or C - which is preferred with SubQ and weekly injections?

it is silly to start TRT without HCG IMHO........ too many benefits to list...... including increased sensitivity in the nether region

I have been on TRT for 3 months now and to be honest I have not seen any issues with atrophy but my testies are very small and have always been that way my entire life, I am talking about the size of a small grape. I am not opposed to HCG but my doctor like yours doesn't use it in his practice but that doesn't mean that at some point I do not include it into my protocol.

Best of luck to you!
