Numbness in left arm from dips.........

Supercharged

Mr. Homewrecker
Ok, so the time before last that I worked tri's and chest, my left hand went completely numb while doing dips on the machine. I can't remember the name of the machine, but you guy's know the one I'm talkin' about. The following day, only my pinky and ring finger were still numb. By the next day, my hand was back to normal.

Well, yesterday when doing dips with the machine, my left arm from my elbow all the way down to my fingers went completely numb! Today it's the same. I haven't regained any feeling!

What the fuck!? Can anyone explain what's goin' on?

Could you possibly have some sort of shoulder impingement? I suffer from this and experience numbness in the hand and fingers. I find if I keep the inflammation under control with an NSAID, I don't experience numbness.
Do you have an pain or discomfort in your shoulder?

No problems in the left shoulder that I'm aware of. I used to think that I had a pinched nerve in my shoulder/neck area on that side, but I haven't had that "shock" sensation in a few years.

This numbness was instantanious. If I remember correctly, on the second set, my left arm went numb. It's still numb. :worried:

its a nerve ... somehow you are aggravating it.... there are 4 big nerves that carry into the hand. the one that you are describing is the Ulnar nerve. try a assisted warm up set before going into anything heavy.

I got a weird feeling in my arm once from doing tricep dips. Just above the elbow in my left arm started to tingle like pins and needles and got hot all of a sudden, it was like someone was holding a lighter to my arm, like I was actually being burned.

Thanks for the replys.

So am I doing any major damage? If I can't get this problem to stop, should I lay off the dip machine?

Maybe I'll try dips without the machine, and just hang some weights between my legs.
