Ok, for the guys with huge biceps!!

18" doesn't mean much either way, shape and your frame type are important factors. Look at NEEDSIZE, I think he has 18" arms and they look stellar.

You hit the nail on the head. I am small framed and only 5'6", so to me 18" arms would be great. Not saying I will never achieve them, but it is alot harder for us smaller guys to obtain what some folks naturally have. But in my eyes, 18' ripped and well cut arms are by far better than 20" smoothed over arms.
Thats was not a stab at anyone BTW, lol.

I started with 14's and 5 years later im sitting at 18's. My success came from heavy sets of 5-7 reps with no more then 9 sets. You will need all your strength to push heavy weight so give them there own day. When doing back i really try to pull with my elbows to take the bicep out of the movement and same goes for chest i go really wide to avoid tricep usage. I believe arms can be overtrained very easily which will kill any progress.

thats kind of what I think is happening with me RCATES.... I think I have been training my back, weather I mean to or not using some bicep help, then by the time I go to work on my bi's they then get over worked.
I noticed a HUGE difference dedicating a full session to just my arms. by that I mean the swelling, the overall next day feeling ect....

IMO
yopu told your true key to succes when you typed
heavy sets of 5-7 reps

i want to scream everytime i see a pencil armed geek doing concentration/isolation moves they just read about in the latest muscle rag magazines.lifting heavy adds mass imo and the majority of bicep work should be basic heavy barbell and or dumbell curls with some hammer curls thrown in if your elbows can stand it .

DaDawg, I was always afraid to overload the bicep and tear it or tear tendons as it is a smaller muscle than most. That being said, I started doing heavier loads and negatives this week for far fewer reps, and notice a big difference in the "Pump" or swelling i got during and after my workout.

Thanks to everyone who had input on the subject.
Much appreciated!!

My problem with working bi's is I feel it much more in my shoulders when I go heavy...

sounds like instead of contracting the bicep to complete the rep you are pushing up{ FRONT RAISE } with the delts. im guessing the elbows are coming up more than normal which means you useing to much delt.

For negatives, do you do it in addition to your normal bi workout or do you just do negatives when lifting?

I do it in addition to my Bi's workout now, but I would assume its safe to say you could do them with any lift as long as you have a spotter to help you. I tried it with a few other lifts and really like them so far. Kinda feels like Im cheating though not fully lifting the weight under my own power, but its a nice change of pace.

Ok lets define Negatives. Negatives are a focus of resistance on the down of the rep. The lift is done by the spotter. Then you count down from 10 to 1 slowly returning the weight to the full extension of the excursive. Repeat this 10 reps per set. They should be done with a weight that is higher than your max lift. They burn and hurt and work very well. Make sure to stretch very well.

the preacher bench will let you focus on your bi's. I will say tht if your feeling it in your shoulders then maybe your body is telling your something. Some focus on your shoulders it probably in order to properly support the motion of the curlz.

Exactly how I did them...... first workout I did them , i felt great! Nice change up movement. Also helped adding a day to my routine just for arms themselves!
Thanks for suggesting them guys. I am now gonna incorporate them with other lifts as well.

thats true.. my hands fall asleep when i play video games... and im at about 20 inches myself right now

Well im right at bout 17" in or maybe little more, but i have only been liftin and eating right for a little over 2 years so im very happy with my results. Especially considering i prob had less than 14 in arms when i started. It doesnt matter how big your arms are anyways, it only matters the results youve gotten since youve been training them. Sure ronnie prob had 15 in arms when he first started lifting but now has like 23 inchers

sounds like he's doin cheat curls for sure..

dont let that body rock..

i put my back up against the wall.. or put on of my feet out in front of me with my toes sticking up in the air.. as in, im on the back end of my heel.. wont let your body rock.. wont let u cheat

yeah if you want a real pump do regular preacher curls then a set of preacher reverse curls- then go on Anavar (var) and by the end your arm is about to explode. but i find reverse curls gave me some size that i wanted, im sort of like you i have trouble puttig on alot of size in my arms even when i gain weight. my bicepts are strong, esspecially for the length iv been working out but dont put on size as fast. also i find the preacher will widen the bi aswell.

PUMP and size?

Change is good. A pump isn't indicative of muscle mass happening or a good workout even though it feels good. I can do push ups, and get a pump far better than bench, yet, would never give me a big chest. I can do negatives,...and never get a pump, yet get sore the nest few days.I can do any 8-10 workout for biceps and never get sore. It probably has more to do with just doing the same old thing, and not eating enough. If you are looking for a pump,... do 21's and get some NO2,... but as I said,... pump doesn't mean size. It just means feeling good while at the gym.Lift heavy, keep a log, switch it up, if need be, have an arm only day, and eat right.
