I am 61, Went to Urologist for yearly prostrate exam, everything ok, and explained that I looked on the internet and found the

Signs and symptoms of Low T may include:

Fatigue or loss of energy

Low sex drive (reduced desire to be intimate)

Sexual dysfunction (weak erections, failure to get erections)

Depressed mood

Decreased sense of well-being

Increased body fat

Loss of muscle mass

Decreased bone strength

I ask if he could check my T levels and he did. I was told I was Low Normal range.

He put me on prescription Testost Cyp "Inject one ML (cc) Intramuscularly every two weeks."

and to change from right to left glute every injection.

The Injections started about four months ago and I still have very sore muscles after minimal exercise. and don't really feel much better, How much time does it take. Dr. told me to come back in a year.

Does 1 ML(CC) 1000mg every two weeks sound like enough?

What should I be feeling? I didn't start this for bodybuilding, but I would like to get my strength back.

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

1000mg every two weeks? That's not exactly a hrt dose & 1mL can't be dosed at 1000mg, I think your numbers are off. If you were taking that you'd be feeling like a champ, increased energy, libido of a 20 year old, better mood, muscle responsiveness...Do you mean 100mg every two weeks?

Test is a powerful hormone, you'd be feeling it pretty quickly if you have low levels. Double check your numbers though something doesn't sound right

The Prescription says inject one ML (CC) every two weeks

your getting 200mg every 2 weeks.. 2,000mg is what is in the whole vial.. its 200mg per 1ml.. and your taking 1ml every 2 weeks correct?

You guys are great....even you pickle!!! I love being a part of your group even if pickle does call me "cupcake" and make bogus claims of me having fun with pickles in ways that i shouldnt!!! Lol lol

OK so I am getting 200mg every 2 weeks

OK so I am getting 200mg of test cyp every 2 weeks.

I still feel achy and weak, I have read online the testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) can cause :

gynocomastia

testicular atrophy

Negative effect on cholesterol levels

hypertension

So if I need more than 200mg every two weeks, what else should I be on to prevent posible side effects?

ppcblaster, I've been on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) for over 10 years. The amount you are getting should do you quite well.
The problem is that injecting every 2 weeks is causing a roller coaster effect that makes you feel like there is no improvement.
For best results, you need to increase the frequency of your injections. 100mg once a week is infinitely better than 200mg every 2 weeks and if you can stand it 50mg twice a week , say on Monday and Thursday, would work better still. As you can see, you aren't increasing your total dose in a months time, you are simply injecting more often which leads to stable blood levels.
No doctor in his right mind who is keeping up with TRT/HRT protocols is using the every two week injection method any more just for this reason. Blood levels become so unstable that we experience what is called the roller coaster effect. You may feel good for a couple of days after the injection, but as soon as test levels begin to drop off, we start feeling like crap again. You need to discuss this with your doctor and if he isn't willing to change your dosing schedule, you should run as fast as you can to another doctor who knows what he is doing.

#1 can be controlled with an Aromatase Inhibitor such as Arimidex.

#2 can be controlled with Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG)

#3 should correct themselves under a properly supervised testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) program

Patients who NEED HRT/TRT have high cholesterol because the liver is attempting to provide the raw materials necessary (cholesterol) to make the hormone that is missing. testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) patients find that when they start testosterone the feedback loop senses the needed hormone, so cholesterol levels drop naturally.

I called my urologist (MD) office and ask if I could get the free and total testosterone and was told" we only do the serum(total) not free or estradial..been that way for 30 years.."

I went to the Hospital where I have all my lab work and got free copy's

My serum testosterone was 226 last December.
What does 226 mean?

Cholesterol 159
Triglycerides 232 H
HDL 26.0 AB
LDL Calculated 87

What do these look like?

That means your testosterone is WAY LOW - I like running about 900. I also agree with the up/down cycle you are experiencing because of 200/mg every two weeks - truth is the questions you are asking are basic testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) questions and the guys have answered them. There is no way to do this CORRECTLY yourself. You need regular blood tests and more supplies along with consultation. You can't "medicate" yourself and call it testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). That is what we call "cycling". You are looking for more and I would suggest it at age 61 - especially with your concerns about side effects. Dude - we want to help but I can't provide what Chip provides. He is the doctor. I really would encourage you to use him. He will fix everything and all this guessing your doing goes away.

I agree...although Chip is not a doctor but a HRT rep.

Chip will fix you up...
