I've just seen another tragedy on the news the other day...

Major fire in "I think" Texas -- they were evacuating people out of their homes.

The wife comes running out of the house - Pillow and blanket under one arm and the dog under her other arm.

Then out comes the husband -- one thing cradled in both arms ... "the Xbox."

Yep - true story. :)

i hear you on this one. what was she thinking grabbing the blanket. she should have grabbed the games for the xbox. wtf.

This has become interesting...

Rollergirl - is styling - the kitty is a must.

hardpr - the games for the xbox - for sure.

jimbo - the fishing pole keeps you from starving - except I suck at fishing - I'd still starve - but I do like boat rides. :D

nerdalert - the pictures got me thinking...

What can't be replaced ... "shit there really is a lot of stuff."

All joking aside - it falls into two categories.

1) What can money buy - or what can you eventually repurchase again.

2) What can't be bought - what is irreplaceable?

@ nerdalert - Amazon web service - is an extremely cost effective way to store files on their external hard drive - except the is a learning curve that goes along with it.

Apple products can also easily store files - even without using mobile me - my Iphone has well over 1,000 pictures and barley makes a dent in the available space - for that alone makes it a good investment.

The pictures are also on my computer so even if the computer was trashed I'd still have the pics on my phone - Just an FYI for the pictures - I don't even have children and find my pictures irreplaceable.

When all is said and done - at the least I'd catch my ass on fire chuck'n stuff out the windows! :D

Wow no one mentioned grabbing their gear ;)??? I'm grabbing that 1st, since my last order took 10 weeks to come in haha. Next would be my old school punk record collection and my motorcycle helmet!

Already planned this.

My Study Bible my Grandmother got me is the SOLE physical possession that matters to me in the world. It will be first thing I grab.

The new Computer I am building will have a front side that has opening bays for Slideing in Hard dries. I wont lug around the tower, but I damn well will pop out my hard drives real fast(only takes a second). Same with my xbox, pop the side, slide the hard drive out.

The only valid think you can lose on a a game system is hours of time spent on a game. Popping out the hard drives of everything, throwing em in a backpack, seems perfect to me. Then our 3 puppies.

If I have time and the house itself is not on fire...My dads oxygen tanks and all of his medicines. I mean he could go to a hospital until he gets issued new, but I would prefer he stays comfortable. He has phenyl patches, if he is late by a day changing those he is on the ground in withdraws.

I was assuming that I had already gotten everyone else out. I am a firefighter so I know that I would only have a short time to react, even if I had my turnout gear on. This thread is a good time to remind everyone to have a planned escape route for your home in case of a fire.

In this order.

My kids if they are with me that weekend.
my wife to be I love her.
The 2 dogs if they cant run out on there own.
My stash will be last.

Fishing rods and tackle are in the trunk of the car all year round.
