At least you've got almost 3 hours between.. I train boxing & conditioning a.m.'s before work then train MMA directly after work for 2-3 hours.
btw, your really just defeating yourself by lifting right before training. You either cant give it all with doing both back2back or one is going to suffer severely if you put true intensity into the other.. or your just going to overtrain and burn out in a matter of weeks. Best to do Lifting on off mma days or at the very least first thing in the morning so you have all day to start recovering. Just something I've learned over the years.

I was just busting balls. I just had major knee surgery 2 months ago and probably got another 4 months before I can touch the mats. I'm just jealous.

Thats aweful. Thank god I'm injury free right now (not including the 14 stitches I just got out from catching a glancing knee during a single leg TD).

Ahhhh. My buddy was training for an upcoming muay thai fight and got caught with an elbow to the nose like 5 days before he was supposed to fight. It got broke in 2 places and he's out for a couple months. Injuries have been my biggest weakness. I don't ever complain about it aloud but it was the main factor in me not giving this thing a real chance. I'm the disgruntled coach who never made it:bawling:. I've have 2 herniated discs in my lower back, arthritis in my neck, 2 bad knees and a pretty bad ankle. I wouldn't give it all back though if it meant I never fought/wrestled. If it wasn't for wrestling I would be in jail (maybe I'm not outta those woods yet)

LOL.. ya, wrestling help set me on the straight & narrow.. not that I always stayed there but it at least helped me build a base. ;)
I've been lucky, always healthy and never any real serious injuries to date.. other then crap like cuts, sprains, bruises, pulls, etc.. Thats why I'm still riding this thing out :) Plus I just heal ultra fast, its almost a miracle how freakin fast I heal up. What would have almost anyone out for 4-6 weeks, only has me out for a matter of days or maybe a week.. no shit!
Ya, I definetly got more crap from training then from all my matches & fights combined!
The pic's are the cut I mentioned.. training of course..lol But I at least have a good reason.. was going w/my trainer who is 6'3" 220 and I'm 5'7+" and fight at 155lb.. and I was still owning him on the takedowns..lol I think thats why he started using the Mui Thai foot jab/front kick, that's how it connected.

:eek2:. I put one of those on one of my wrestlers last year. He was trying to "funk" after I scooped his leg up. I'm sure you know what that is but for anyone else, It's when one wrestler shoots in and scoops up a single leg and the wrestler who has one leg in the air does a dive through his opponents legs and if done correctly it becomes hard to hold on. Unfortunately, the kid telegraphed the shit out of it and I drop dwon right when he dove. My knee and his eye ended up in the same place at the same time. It wasn't as bad as yours but I think he required 12 stiches.

Video I found of a funk. It's at 9 secs.

I train at an actual MMA gym/camp run by UFC vets BUT they also have other top notch instructors there teaching their specific art.. So I'm getting "MMA" w/UFC fighters & vets but I'm getting BJJ with a Rickson Gracie brown/purple belts, Mui Thai with a 2x world champ, Wrestling w/all americans, and boxing w/pro boxer/2x golden glove champ. So, my point is look at the instructors they employ and level of instruction given. Thats how I would decide, really by name or fights won isn't a good way to decide HOWEVER, generally anything with the ATT or Gracie name is going to be top notch. Maybe get a couple free sessions or drop in fee's w/each and see how you fit it at the gym/classes. Sometimes the "attitude" or atmosphere can vary and you personally might fit in better at one then the other.

Attitude is so important. Your only as good as your training partners/competition. I kow that ATT is ridiculously expensive but they give you a week free to try it out. I'm sure the Gracie place will too. Most ATT's are really well rounded but then again, I live in Florida and ATT is pretty much based out of here nowadays.
