Started TRT, Blood Results after 2 weeks [LOWER!]

Hi there. After a a few blood Tests my doctor thought it was best to start me on TRT. She prescribed me 200mg Test Cyp every month. Yes I know some of you are cringing right now but she ordered bloodwork done two weeks afterwards to see how I responded. Well I just got the blood results and the numbers are lower than before. I meet with her in 2 days to discuss them, I am hoping she ups my dosage of Test. But I'm not sure if I should consult her about HCG or an AI?

For Reference here were my #'s. Thank you for the support and feedback.

Sounds like your doc has no idea how to treat hypogonadism! 200mg once a month? Blood work after just 2 weeks?

You need to get on between 100-200mg per week. Pinning frequency needs to be once or twice a week.

hCG would be nice if you want to have kids in the future. There are other benefits too.

You don't know if you need an AI. You have yo check your estradiol levels. But ask her about monitoring estradiol and how she will want to treat it if it gets too high.

Make sure you discuss donating blood so as to manage hematocrit as well.

Have you read the Basic TRT Overview sticky?

I agree with Mega as usual. This protocol is fked up, big time. It will literally be impossible for you to succeed on a protocol like that.

Your doctor mentioned increasing the dose, what about the frequency? You may have to attempt to educate here by showing her some literature that explains the half life of Test Cyp.

200mg cypionate has about 140 mg of testosterone in it and a half-life of 5 days. That is not enough for one month and once a month is too long.

A "normal" male produces 8 to 12 mg of testosterone a day. This is what it looks like when you inject 200 mg once a month. Not enough to reach those levels. Your body stops production, but the added testosterone is not enough.
Steroidplot - Shared cycle

A better treatment would be 100 mg once a week. See how the graph is more in line with the natural 8 to 12 mg a day.
Steroidplot - Shared cycle

Some even inject 50 mg every 3 days to get a stable 10 mg to 14 mg a day.

Get the dose up first. But by up, I don't mean add more to that single, bullshit injection every month. That's not a borderline questionable dose... its retarded. You need 70-100mg injected weekly, period. Don't dig any deeper, that just is what it is. If you can do 50mg E3.5D, that can sometimes be even better.

Once you start this, you will see if you need an AI. I don't at 120-150mg a week. As for HCG... uh... good luck? She knows zero about even the core of TRT, much less the accessory drugs. Worth asking, but thats a tough sell until she gets up to speed.

Your current dose is going to make you worse. If she refuses to up it - you need to restart back off TRT, or find a new Dr quick.

Is there any documentation that I can bring with me to my appointment to help with my case. She seems very open and easy to talk to. Worst case is that she doesn't get it or doesn't agree and I move on to a new doctor.

You can ask her to view the endocrine society's clinical guidelines for TRT. It suggests a protocol of 75 - 100 mg of testosterone enanthate or cypionate administered intramuscularly (IM) weekly, or 150 - 200 mg administered every 2 weeks.

If your doctor is in the US, she should have a copy. If not you can download it from here:

If she want more documents. I have about two dozen reseach papers on TRT.

This document should probably be a sticky in the forum as it is an important document to read for anyone one TRT or considering TRT.

Also you have very low SHBG (similar to mine), and hence you might be clearing out testosterone faster than normal guys. Guys with low SHBG need to do more frequent injections (atleast twice a week) from what I have understood.
