Steroid use is more pervasive than ever but why don't i see bigger dudes in the gym?

Yeah there's definitely been a change in the general population's fitness goals and I recognize that. I personally am going for aesthetics instead of all mass (like the old school bodybuilder look), but that's because of the generation I'm in. Not to mention it's the guys with awesome aesthetics that get a lot of attention on YouTube, expos, and clothing sponsorships. It's just the world we live in now.

Ya i understand what your saying i cant stand YouTube any more not cuz im jealous or cuz i dont look like them but its just plagued with lies and deception. My problem with those guys is the bullshit how they prey on the unknowing young kids, here buy my supplements and you can look like me. And there arrogance cockiness and swewr up and down there natty that all you have to do is eat right wich is a fucken insult. Food does not give you 3D abs bulging traps and delts striated where you can see the whole anatomy chart.

And trust me there not getting attention from girls there getting it from dudes. Prett much all there suscribers are young kids wanting to achieve a look that there never gonna achieve until they figure out they have been lied too. If your a party boy then ya your gonna get attention at the club but that includes heavy drinking and for some drugs that and aas dont mix. If your a regular guy that works his ass of in a regular job and the gym Your looks dont mean shit. I have a chick and have always had girls before her this is strictly a hobby something i love to do its not for girls attention its for me.

I totally agree. I'm just saying that that's what a lot of people BELIEVE.

Although I do believe the ladies here at college like a good physique;)

For starters, in order for something to be pervasive, it would need to have a negative connotation to it. I don't see folks advertising AAS use in the gym, nor do I see ads outside the Internet for AAS - so I can't really go along with the general theme of the thread.

With that said though, I do think that AAS use is just like anything else in the world; once you're exposed to the world in a new way, you tend to notice it more. For example, if you buy a new car, you tend to notice other folks driving around in the specific model you purchased more often. It's really part of human nature, as we try to organize and make sense/categorize things in our surroundings.

If you were to ask if AAS use were more prevalent, I'd have to disagree there too. I think that the ratio (excluding medical use) of natural to enhanced folks hasn't really changed in the last few decades, it's just more a matter of where we happen to frequent more.

If AAS was truly on the rise, I doubt we'd be seeing such a trend of smaller "box" gyms stuffed with cardio equipment, and more of the traditional free-weight types that I grew to love in the 90's. Of course this is all my subjective opinion as I can really only comment on my demographic location.

My .02c :)

Edit: I thought everyone knew money and power trump looks/aesthetics any day of the week. Nothing brings broads running like the impression that you're a meal ticket. ;)

Why would it need to have a negative connotation to be defined as pervasive?

Why would it need to have a negative connotation to be defined as pervasive?

Usually people attach a negative perception to that word. Instead of pervasive they would use "widespread" or "growing number of." It does not have to have a negative connotation. I just can't see someone saying "Reading is pervasive among kids." The media is corrupting good words

Not everyone wants to get huge or look like a meat head,, AAS still has many benefits besides getting huge.. Lance Armstrong used AAS, he didn't want to get big obviously cause it would hurt his sport.

AAS is first and foremost goal dependent

^^^This. Exactly this.

It also seems that folks have forgotten what really turns girls on.
Yes, the girls will find the aesthetic guy to be better looking, but:

When a scary looking motherfucker with a puffy face who looks huge even through baggy clothes barges through and mr. aesthetic gets shaky voiced, we all know who the girl is fluttering her eyes at.
We have all seen it over and over, but for some reason people don't want to accept it.

Saying girls prefer the aesthetic guy over the scary motherfucker is like saying girls prefer Mr. Nice over Mr. Douch.

This is the only time I think I have ever even thought about even slightly disagreeing with Halfwhit :). But only in regards to AAS prevalence

I think with the rise and popularity of TRT, anti aging clinics, rejuvenation centers, etc.. More and more guys are running gear now.. A guy who hears a radio advertisement for testosterone replacement decides to go down to his local clinic and get on trt,, The next thing you know he's increasing his dosage for better results,, Next he's looking for a new compound , Etc etc.

This same guy 20 years back in time wasn't going to the gym and looking for steroids.. But now with modern day technology it happened to just fall in his lap, And plenty of guys that wouldn't normally do AAS are now introduced to it through trt and health and anti aging ads . It's a new trend IMO

Holy shit back looks great! Please share your tren lol

Sorry to any bodybuilders here (probably most of ya), but I think there is a stupid emphasis put on being lean these days.
I wasn't around then, but my understanding was that maybe back in the 90s or so, everyone wanted to be big as fuck and badass, and being lean was less important.

Today's world is full of metrosexuals. Nobody wants to be big and tough anymore - they want to be 'aesthetic'.
I cringe when I hear about so many tiny guys who are afraid to eat for serious growth because they want to stay lean.

Too true

But that kinda goes back to dudes saying they wanna look like Tyler Durden in Fight Club. The didn't wanna look like Pitt because they thought that's what an awesome physique was, they wanted to look like him because he was the biggest stud in Hollywood at the time.

Now all the young kids want to look like the Rock, which is quite an upgrade from Tyler Durden, because he's one of the biggest studs in hollywood. If Batista suddenly gets a lot of work, chicks will like him and dudes will want to look like him.
