Sub q injection issue.

So I started hrt last week. Decided to go the sub q route. Using a 25g 1 inch needle I injected 3 inches to the right of the navel at half inch depth . I was a bit rough with it and did not warm up the oil. Keep in mind I was against sub q injection up until I did some research and had a doctor recommend it.

Injected 100mg 1/2 cc. First day was fine. Second day very minor lump third day boom I have had a 4 to 6 inch red spot plus a golf ball sized lump underneath. The area is hot to the touch also.

No flu like symptoms no fever. It slightly hurts to touch.

Anyone with experience please chime in.

Going to doc tomorrow regardless. The last thing I need is an abscess so I'm hoping for the best.

Btw I did a second injection sub q on the other side to see if it was poor injection protocol or a reaction to the oil.

The test is human grade.

The only issues I see would be:

1. Using a 25g needle for this. You should be using an insulin syringe as it has the proper needle length and will cause less damage due to the circumference of the delivery system.

2. Were you injecting at a 45 degree angle to the surface of your skin? This is crucial with subcutaneous injections as you want to disperse the oil over a greater area under the skin. Otherwise, you may get pooling or achieve too great of a depth.

3. Injecting near the navel can be bad news with regards to PIP or lumps. I don't go anywhere near the belly button and try to stay around the hips/lower quadrants of the abdomen. There are some pretty sensitive nerves there, which you can tell by gently poking with your finger tips to determine sensitivity. (Some recommend using the needle to do this, but who wants little spots of blood if you press too hard?)

4. Lumps are normal, but having it swell to that size and with some heat sounds bad. Let us know how the visit with the doc goes as I doubt it's a true abscess, and might just be trapped oil that has nowhere to go and require some extra time to be absorbed. Then again, I'm obviously not a doctor and could be completely wrong in this case - I'm just going by personal experience. :)

I'm hoping for the best for you man. Nothing scarier than a damn lump that hurts! At least I know it's something that keeps me on my toes while injecting!

X2. My sister learned long ago not to inject her insulin by the navel. Keep us updated on what the doctor says brother. Hoping its nothing serious.

What's strange is the red rash on the skin. It's almost 7 inches wide and 4 inches tall. I'm considering trying to drain it.

Ok guys I'll keep this updated. It will be a good archive for anyone with the same issue in the future.

hope everything is okay! Sub q is what I want to do if I end up on trt. Seems so much better especially at a younger age where IM injections would begin to develop bad scar tissue over time.

Good luck brother. I've been using 26 gauge 5/8" with no problems. I've heard going all the way to slin pins causes the oil to come out at too high of a velocity which can cause more damage (I know this isn't your problem but wanted to mention it since some folks do it that way). The only problem I've had so far is a little oil coming out if the injection site after taking out the needle. Only a drop though.

Sounds like an infection so I'm hoping the dr can get you fixed up easily. Again, good luck.

The second injection had a bump and hurt a little but no acute reaction like the first.

Went to the doc. He ruled out the abscess. Said it's either an allergic reaction to the injection or a slight inflection. Gave me antibiotics. Keflex to be exact.

I've had the same thing happen 3J. Halfwit nailed it as always. Use a 29 gauge. Also a big mistake a lot of guys make is pinching their stomach fat too hard. U should barely be holding the fat and when you are injecting, slowly release your skin as I feel it allows the oil to spread. I gently massage it too. My first 3 injections were as you described yours. Well take that back. By the 3rd injection I was getting used to it. Give it some time and you will be fine. My injection made my stomach so bruised. It was really nasty looking with a huge lump. Back load the slin pin and use 29 gauge 1/2 inch going forward.

It should work out fine in the end, probably just irritation but I am sure you know your body best.

This is why I do not care for the sub c injects, it should get better but it just never seems to get all the way better, I always get irritation when i do sub c

Good Luck brother.

yea im giving up on it... gonna go the IM route
