The best bodybuilder ever???

I am banned!
I just saw a YouTube video of Flex Wheeler and my mind is made up. I checked out Kai Green after for a comparison and Flex made him look like an amateur. How he never won the Olympia I can't figure out. Check out the you tube video of Flex training back. I never have seen any thing like it.

I agree that arnold was the most important bodybuilder ever. But I'm talking about the best physique ever if you stood them next to each other. Obviously Arnold in his day was great, the best, but if he stood next to Flex it's not a no brainer. My favorite bodybuilder of all time is Lee Labrada but he is obviously not the best ever. Who do you think, one on one, in the best condition they were ever in was number one?

Interesting, so you think levrone at his best beats flex at his best?? Lervone was great too but I don't see it.

Flex was good, could have been great.. but... relied too much on natural talent and was known to be quite lazy as far as training/diet went... too much wasted talent

You don't see how Levrone was more of a finished product than Flex?

These two are a great comparison as both turned pro the same year, both at under 200lbs

Physique wise: Arnold, Proportional Zane

Then again I like the old school look; I'm not huge into BBing world... but IMO I feel that the guys back then had more individualism. At least to an untrained eye.
I also believe with those physiques the majority of the population looked upon them as great...while today not too many people like the look.

Frank Zane... a total stand-out for aesthetics.... There's not one man or woman on this planet that wouldn't have looked at Zane and thought 'WOW!' :tounge2:

Derrem Charles, Flex Wheeler and Troy Alves were bodybuilders who took great aesthetics to the next level...

Modern day guys have become quite extorted, but I do admire Toney Freeman's 'X-Man' frame.

But to answer OP's oroginal question... it has to be Zane

I love zanes physique but I think labrada is a better version. But for smaller guys I would say that Shawn Ray is probably the best. And yes I think Flex was better than levrone but not by that much obviously.

I too am a big fan of the smaller, more asthetic guys, unfortunately that's not the way bodybuilding went after haney, yates & coleman hit the scene

I wouldn't call him the best bodybuilder ever, but arnold will always be my favorite.

I dont know who would be the best ever, but as far as genetics goes Ronnie Coleman had the best genetics ever. I like Heath, i think he looks absolutely amazing, and Dorian is one of my all time favs. I agree with ChinaWall, Levrone was sick!!! And never won!!

I would have to agree with the Zane, Labrada votes and throw in bob Paris's name in there as well. As a 5'5 brick myself it's a look I'm really pushing for now as I get older. Gotta add Sergio Olivia in there too, with that 28" waist with that size he was truly a marvel for that era. If he competed today with modern gear/training/nutrition he would be unstoppable

All of the above are in a class of their own!

I have a picture of Yates flexing with my wife and his forearm is bigger than her head!

Yates was my biggest influence.

Repo

the thing is, if Arnold and Zane had the drugs the guys have today, imagine what their potential would have been. I'm with repo on Yates, he was the first guy I actually called a monster, and why hasn't anyone mentioned Ronnie Coleman , geez Louise....lol

In Zane's case I think access to today's drugs would of actually ruined his lines. I'm sure back in the day he was a minimalist when it came to gear but I could see him maybe throwing in a bit of hgh in there. Arnold would of been a machine tho, he wouldn't of held back. He always did what it took to win
