Topicals and DHT

Your thoughts/eperiences on NISIM or NIOXIN shampoos? Or if one ingrediant panel looked better than the other?

There is very little clinical support for either.

I've heard anecdotal stories that go both ways - some swear by it some claim it is a waste of money.

With this type of thing, my recommendations are always...

1) Start with what is proven to work and stick with it long enough to assess the effects - i.e. start with fina and minoxidil.

2) Try other treatments ONE AT A TIME and use it to assess the effect.

3) Keep the things that work for you in your lineup and drop the stuff that doesn't and move on the to the next thing.

For me fina + rogaine 10% foam is the daily treatment.

I recommend the foam over the liquid for the frontal hairline b/c it adheres to the scalp much better in the frontal area than the old liquid.

So how long did the shedding last Cashout when you first started it. That scared me from it right away. I have a full head of hair that has thinned a little in the front and receded a small amount. When you read about minoxidil it states it will only help in the rear area of the scalp.

My Dr. is cool as shit. . (Younger guy)He knows i research my shit, and know whats up. . He called in a prescription like nothing flat
(Although lately, i feel like reaching threw the phone a choking his "new" stupid nurses)

There like "u need to come in for an appointment" Im like nah, i need u to call this in. . and hang the phone up.

Im trying to decide wether or not to run duet/fin this go round
Im wondering if anybody has ran both??
Ive discussed this with u gents in this thred before. I get a little oily skin

Fina or duta - no need for both. Fina at 1.25 mg daily or duta at .5 mg daily.

Start with fina. Most are fine with it and really don't need duta unless you are really high on the 5-AR enzyme and reducing test at a rapid rate. I have seen a few folks who fall into this category but they are typically the ones who start to show signs of hairloss very early - i.e. in there late teens and early 20s.

With DHT, you don't want to eliminate it, you only want to keep it in the lower end of the normal range.

Yup, I did have some shedding for about the first month but my hair is long - think Axl Rose.

All the minoxidil studies were done on the effects of the drug as applied to the vertex (crown) of the scalp.

In that region of the head, minoxidil has up an 85% regrowth effect in men.

They actually did test the drug for the frontal scalp and the temporal areas but the drug did not prove to be highly effect in these areas.

After reading the entire research report, clearly the reason the drug was not effective on the front of the hairline was due to the fact they tested the liquid form of the drug in the clinicals and the liquid did not adhere well to the front of the scalp. Most of the subjects in the study complained about the liquid running down their forehead and getting in their eyes. Simply, it is hard to keep the liquid on the balding areas in the front of the hairline.

That was actually the reason they developed the foam - so it would adhere to the front of the scalp better.

They never paid to have additional clinicals done on the foam to prove that it worked better in the frontal area because the drug was already such a cash cow that there was no need to spend the extra cash.

Shit I started the fina, so I will see how that goes first. I will keep that in mind. Shit just scared me, I was doing all this as a preventative. So would you say spiro is a joke?

I wouldn't say it is a joke. I would just say that its claims have not been supported in rigorous clinical testing like fina/duta/minoxidil.

There are many other products that claim to regrow hair and again, I wouldn't dismiss any of them. I would be more inclined to say "Show me the clinical research."

If it is not there, then I have to be skeptical.

Of course, as a professor, that is what I do for a living so I put a lot of stock in well-planned and well-executed research - particularly in and area of study where I spend so much of my time and energy.

Ya my dermatologist had no clue what I was talking about when I was asking for a topical spiro. I use it anyways. Expensive hair gel is what I call it. Thanks Cashout like always.

One way to think about sprio is this.

The theory has always been that topically, sprio acts as a competitive androgen receptor binding agent and can "block" DHT from attaching to the follicular receptors.

With fina/duta, they eliminate the 5-AR enzyme that creates DHT.

So the question becomes, would you rather try to block DHT at the receptor or stop its production?

Kind of like the same thing with Nolva and Letro with regard to estrogen.

this is all true and I would much rather stop its production at the receptor...S&M is very concerned about hairloss and fina just isnt always an option with some of the compounds out there which leads to expirimental trials of other products. We both used spiro this cycle...I got no hairloss but he kept complaining of shedding lol

Well I'm using both for now. I'm shedding like a mofo right now, they are real fine hairs that are coming out. Didn't start till I ended last cycle. Still full head of hair. I haven't quit used my finistride for a month yet. We will see.

Minoxidil shedding is common as minoxidil is a potassium channeling agent. This means that it increases the flow of certain beneficial ionic compounds to the hair follicles. When this happens, the thinner less robust hairs typically fall out and are replaced over time by healthier denser hairs. Don't worry about the shedding it means the minoxidil is working.

So your saying to have sexy hair when I'm 40 use finistride and minoxidil, 2 bad that it wasn't as cheep as the finistride on a monthly basis. Ya the shedding scared me away.

I guess I'm going to Sams. So what if I quit using it in say 2 years. All that I gained just falls out. Is this something that has to be religious and taking everyday.

If you stop using, it is likely that you'll see some shedding but it won't be a rapid and "all-at-once" process.

Hair doesn't fall out that way. The hair shafts gradually get smaller and smaller as more and more DHT scares the follicle. Eventually, the follicle is so scared by the DHT that it can produce a hair shaft.

That's why you see a lot of guys who are balding with that "peach fuzz" looking hair in the areas in which they are balding.

Also, when you start to use drugs like rogaine and fina, the hair that grows back is first "peach-fuzz" and over time becomes healthier and think.

Fina on cycle anyway is a good idea IMO.... prostate problems are a bitch pissing like a leaky faucet is enough to drive any man nuts

For fuking real bro, thats the first thing I noticed was telling cobra it was so amazing that I can piss a fuking stream. Didn't realize that was a side effect of tren. Till I got on the fina.
