TRT and getting Sleep Apnea

I've been on different TRT treatments since Aug 2014 (Clomid, cream, and shots for the last year). I was tested for sleep apnea in May of 2014 before starting treatment to rule that out and didn't have it. I've been sleeping horrible for the last few months, I wake up throughout the night and I'm tired during the day. Does being on TRT make me susceptible to sleep apnea even though I didn't have it 2 years ago? Thanks

If you put on additional mass in the chest/neck, yes. Testosterone by itself does not necessarily bring about sleep apnea.

I haven't gained weight, but I've gotten stronger! I've been doing Crossfit, so is that what you mean by mass? I thought obese people usually got sleep apnea. My bf% is around 20%, I'm no skinny minny, but I'm not fat.

the next step is to ask ur doctor for a pulse oximiter to use for a few nights to see what things are doing while you sleep.

Mass can be muscle or fat. The studies that implicate TRT don't isolate the fact that these men put on substantial muscle mass in their chests and necks. OSA is when your mind paralyzes you, these muscles relax and their sheer weight obstructs your breathing pathways.

Being obese does increase the risk, but so does being muscular. :)
