i hear and read about kids of 16 and 17yrs old benching over 350lbs and even 400 and deadlifting 600. is this true and has anyone seen this? cos it makes me feel weak hearin about it

Most of the teens who throw around heavy weights in the gym are simply doing half assed lifts with lots of weights. Football squats is a prime example, and these guys wonder why they feel and look like they are 90 years old by the time they are 25. Their form is horrible and they usually stop working out due to injury. That does not mean it is not impossible for a teenager to be incredibly strong, I have not witnessed any teenagers deadlifting 600lbs, but I am sure that there is some genetic freak out there.

Yeah, I've seen 2 17 year old linemen squat 600+, so I know it can be done.

I'm 16 and I rep 235 on Bench, 340 on squats. I'm not sure what I can max out on those yet, haven't tried since last semester. We don't have dead lift, we have hang clean, I can do about 205 on that reping. I dont think its incredibly strong by any means, but its above average.

truth or bull

that aint shit, when I was in high school a 15 year old benched 325 at our high school weight lifting contest. a senior who squatted 600 and a 15 year old chick who benched 195 and suatted 275. there was some guys juicin but some that looked clean to me.

my son deadlifted well into the 500s at 14-15 years old so its definately possible if your a genetically gifted individual to put up heavy #S at a young age . it could be as simple as that individual just matured faster and is closer to being a man at that age than the average teen .
as for those huge squats 99% of those big #S are what i would consider a 1/4 squat or lockout . ive heard over and over about teenage squatting machines putting up huge #S only to watch them squat myself and see they are at least a FOOT above parallel . my son squatted ass to the floor in the low to mid 4S at 14-15 years old and could have easily squated freaky tonnage if i had let him squat high .
remember firends dont let friends drink and drive or squat high .
before you ask how much he lifts now he quit powerlifting for football and girls so when he gets all that shit out of his system and gets his ass back to the gym i will let you know how hes doing .

Whaddaya mean "we don't have dead lift"??? If you've got a barbell and some plates, and a floor, you can deadlift.

most high school / varsity sports give you a program that you MUST follow. sign in, record your weight ect.

by we dont have deadlift, means we dont have to deadlifts for the program

BUT YES, they can/should deadlift :D

scfool, I know what you meant. What I was asking you is how could you tell by looking at them. Just cause someone is ripped doesnt mean they are "juicing". And just because someone is not ripped does not mean that they arent "juicing".

I hope hes still lifting? not to mention hes prolly got a great mentor as well!!! lol

I benched a little over 300 at 16 and could have done more at 17 but stopped training hard. Mike Miller is the strenght coach for one of the high schools in his area and he had a 165 lb wrestler doing a legit 405 squat in hs, that is pretty impressive. THeir were pics at irontrybe. The squat numbers, raw and to parallel, would be tough, the bench nubers are not that high, and every hs probably has one.

I benched around 95 lbs at 16... I guess that puts me out of the running... weighted about 85 lbs
