I think 315 is a really good benchmark. It's not a shit load of weight, but not too many people can bench that. [/B][/QUOTE]

i have been lifting 315 for reps for quite some time now, and if you sit and think about it , that actually is a lot of weight. i stare almost in amazement when i have 8 plates on that bar though...it reminds me of an axle with fat ass tires on either side(weird , i know)

pulling 405 from the floor..Its nothing special but there are less than a handful of people that dl at my gym and the ones that do seem content with doing 225 for 10 and dont seem to care about adding weight to the bar..oh well

In high school it was the 405 bench... There were only 2 dudes in my school that could do it. They were basically indestructible on the football field also. The bigger of the two would level someone then after the play was over he would go and pick the guy up, off of the ground and set him back up like a bowling pin.

Ok, I shouldn't discount it that much. Dudes in the gym to look at you like you're God if you can put up 315. I think it's a pretty big acomplishment if you can push those plates and not be a fat ass. I really don't worry about guys who bench 75lbs more than me when they look like shit.

Yeah, there is a guy at the gym that benches about what I do for my reps and he has a nice sized gut and he sports a wife beater. I just wear a regular old T shirt.

I'll always remember the first day I benched 225. 300 was also a milestone for me. Not quite at 315, but should be very soon :)

i like the fat asses that wear the really small tanktops and the cut up sweatshirts and have knee/elbow wraps and look like complete morons. i think it is a law that every gym have at least one of these guys!

lets not the skinny ones... recently my gym has been overrun by skinny white kids that dress ghetofabulous, sporting wifebeaters with their fubu jean shorts and sideways yankee hats

My milestone was weird. I had never benched 315 for more than one, and one day i come in (WHILE DIETING FOR COMPTITION) and put it up for 5 or 6. Never did it again, but that was a milestone for me.

455x4 squat was also a big one for me. Lookin to put that way behind me this upcoming cycle.

Also 455x2 dead is personal best, lookin to hit 500 for reps by the end.

Incline, 275x10. Lookin for 315 for reps at the end.

i had to read that a couple of times; i was under the impression that you were calling me a fat ass. i dont think thats the case now though. anywho, i am 5'11 230 (give or take a lb.) and 12% bf by caliper. not ripped by any means (i am not a body builder), but by no means a fat ass. i look good; all the girlies say so anyway.

but back to your statement, i am almost embarrased for the "powerlifter" -built guys in the gym who lift less than me or have their pelvis' so high in the air when they are benching. i took the long road to get to 425 bench; i NEVER bounce, my ass is planted to the pad and i pause for a second or so at the bottom of my rep. starting that a long time ago, made me a more techinical lifter, i think.

sorry i know this was WAY off the subject....

powerlifters dont lift their ass off the bench

here we go.... i said "powerlifter" built---meaning bigger guys that have no concern for their bodyfat. i was actually refering to the fat ass guys in my gym with olympic shorts and tank tops with wrist bands. not bashing powerlifters at all; i am not a bodybuilder or a powerlifter-- i consider myself somewhere in between. i like to lift heavy like the power lifters, but go to much more trouble to attain perfect form like the bodybuilders. i think that is the perfect weight lifter IMO.

I hit 495 on the deadlift when I was 17...and all natural. I was going for the world record in my weight class in the 16-17 age group. It was 550. I had 9 months to do it, but I got a severe case of food poisoning and lost 20 pounds in 4 days. It was almost a year before i hit 500 again, with no chance of the WR.

there's some pretty serious weight being thrown around out there! I think the 1st time I did 225 bench I was totally psyched, but there was something about going over 300 lbs that was even more exciting. im hoping to go over 400 soon and I cant wait to see how that feels!
