Who can bench twice their bodyweight?

Dont have your elbows out in outer space, it brings in the shoulders too much and this is why mine used to always hurt. When you bench low on the chest your elbows are easy to tuck TO YOUR SIDES.

Most bodybuilders use about 50% of their total muscle fibers while Elite Olympic Lifters can incorporate up to 95% of their muscle fibers, thats why most 180 pound women in the Olympics can bench press

When you lift heavy you force your body to use more fibers, so simply powerlifting would be good enough.

I'm glad I took the time to read that article...
It makes me realize how wrong my form has been.

The best way to add more weight to your exercises is by incorporating Olympic lifting into your workout.

Most bodybuilders use about 50% of their total muscle fibers while Elite Olympic Lifters can incorporate up to 95% of their muscle fibers, thats why most 180 pound women in the Olympics can bench press twice as much as Arnold Schwarzenegger on 5 grams of Test.

Olympic lifting will increase the amount of muscle fibers you can incorporate into a lift which will bring you a lot closer to your 2X bodyweight bench press goals.

180lb women out benching arnold? i dont think so. olypic lifters rarely bench.

i dont agree with dave on all his principals. I d agree with many but not al as that article has been around a while and new info is constantly being realized. the pushing in a straight line does not hold water because of simple physics. is it easier to push a car up a steep incline or a flatter incline? same with benching. if you'll notice in the link i posted for bd presses you can see why w do these. the lifter is bringing the weight from down low to above his head. simple physics. I am not dissing dave as he is good at what he does but the straight line theory is out dated.

how many great benchers west side turned out? (1) Now on squats loui knows his stuff but not benching.

Nobody knows how much Arnies bench is while a lot of these women can push out well over 400 pounds without benching shirts.

According to my knowledge bodybuilding and strength training programs increase muscle cross sectional area and limit strength but they typically lack a strong speed component thus not having the same effect on power and muscle fibers as o-lifts do.

Many powerlifters utilize speed techniques. If anything they utilize more techniques than bodybuilders do, limited range movements as well as explosive training usually in the positive and slow on the negative.

Arnold was listed as benching 485 or thereabouts. Fact or fiction, you decide.

i only know of three women who have benched over four. they are powerlifters wearing shirts. you are saying that a lot of woman are benching over four that only weigh 180? and that they are olympic lifters at that (who rarely bench). there are not a lot of guys weighing 180 that bench 400. if you have data proving what you say please present it. the biggest bench i have heard of by a 181er (male) is a little over 6. after that there is a big drop off to 551. i am trying to be nice but i gotta call BS on this one. ;) women beching four raw. thats a good one.

I remember in his encyclopedia, there is a shot of him benching and the caption mentions him benching 450 for reps, yet there is clearly only 365 on the bar ;)

Yep remember that back then Ted Arcidi was I think the first guy to break into the 600s, guys back then were not benching like they are today.

Ronnie supposedly can get into the 700s raw if you go by his 225x75, then you have Kovacs, and there was Trevor Smith (RIP). A lot of guys however now days probably haven't even done free pressing for a long time, Lee Priest and numberous others have hurt themselves doing it, a lot of guys use machines.

DAMN 700 Raw, then again Ronnie is a manbeast he could probably push all the way and break the world record if he got up to like 350 pounds.

Besides there are tens of thousands of female powerlifters/olympic lifters, do you know every single one of them?

Im sorry to disrespect your god Arnold but the dude wasnt pushing half as much as Ronnie and the same as most Olympic lifting women, you ever lifted 400 pounds, whats your maximum bench?

If you have some PROOF and you know every single woman who has ever touched an iron bar in her life then plz let us know but unless you look shit up and can say no then keep your mouth closed, Like I told you go look it up.

There are 6 billion ppl on the planet, you dont know everyone(I think), before you open your mouth its best to know what your talking about.

Now thats the nicest way I can put it and I have to say I did pretty well ;)

I think you are missing his point, where do you look it up, throw out some names. Are these sanctioned lifts, or people you heard about, because i would like to see it too. And as far as i know like pullinbig said, i never though olympic lifters even benched. At least much for that matter.

Man the whole post got delete... shit, guess ill write it again.

I was down in London last summer with Mick Hart watching bodybuilders, powerlifters and olympic lifters walking in and out, obviously I took it upon myself to ask them about theyr diet, training etc and what I found out was quite shocking, well it did make sense.

When you clean and press you are using just about every muscle in your body which means a lot of intensity but like bodybuilders when our bench lacks we work our triceps to make them stronger, do some delt work or chest work to make them muscles stronger and be able to lift more, its the same with powerlifters they focus on individual body muscles to build one all powerful muscular body.

Now below is a picture of Kara Bohegiahn, she can bench 375 pounds@148 pound bodyweight...

And shes a bodybuilder too... imagine what a 180 pound woman who trains PRIMARILY for strenght all her life can achive if a woman whoose been training for a few years to build a decent body can bench 375 pounds!!

Also shes 32 pounds lighter than the 180 pound class and the 180 pound class can range up to 200 pounds too.

And I didnt mean to trip like that b4 but man you jumped on my comments without even looking it up, look up the olympic lifts and youll see there are more than "4" women benching 400 plus pounds.

no you look it up SON cause you cant find. it aint there. now go somewhere and play with the other little boys. you got no data just mouth. give one name of a woman 180lbs olypic lifter. you cant do it cause it aint happened. quit being stupid

LOL what do you know about olympics?

How about I set out a few questions for your ignorant little gay self and well see how much you truly know about all this, take your shit elsewhere and come back when you have a little proof to back up your bullshit...

In the guiness world records special edition about 50 womens records are there so go look it up you gay piece of crap.

Didnt you read what I said above?

What is your benchpress?

What do you know about olympic lifting.

It seems to me you know very little about anything, your just an asshole with a big mouth, Look at the woman shes 148 pounds and is benching 375 pounds, now it doesnt take a genius to work out a 180 pound woman will most likely be able to bench 25 pounds more.

Keep your shit to yourself and you wont get slapped around the forum like a bitch.
