heavy lifting causes hormone changess in the body some claim besides test increa that groth hormone and igf1 increase as well.

i know you think you dont care about anything buy upperbody but i promise you that when you build a impressive upper body and dont train legs you will look deformed. i tell the bench press gang they look like they are riding a chicken because their legs are so small compared to their upper body , after a while they stopped training in shorts because people were laughing when i said it.

We have a 200lb guy in our pl gym that can raw bench (385) more then he can dead or squat. His quads are as slender as a 130 lb woman. He wore shorts once and didnt like the ribbing he got from us.I nicknamed him Rooster because of the thick chest tiny legs look. He's part of our 4 man group now and I'm going to teach him good form and the strength will come.

the sad part is they think that looks good until everyone points it out

Just got done doing this!

I see this all the time in the gym,not only does working the lower body produce natty gh it translates to to strength overall.Start heavy squatting and deading and all your lifts will go up.

Without balance, you become injury prone and the body will try to hold back other areas. I've seen a couple well developed light bulbs, but they'd probably look and feel better with some wheels.

"Testosterone and GH levels after squats & deadlifts:

Resistance training in general, increases testosterone and growth hormone, during and immediately after post excercise. It has been shown in many studies, including a published study Int J Sports Med. 1991 Apr;12(2):228-35 done on both men and women during resistance excercise. Squats and deadlifts increase GH and Testosterone, more than other compound excercises during excercise."

Legs are about 1/2 of our body mass... Doesn't everyone want
to work their entire body? Leg days flush the chumps. lol

.....sad but true..leg s are integral...I say sad as my knee s are fucked...with DMSO and knee wraps i can still squat/ leg press effectively with respectable weights....how ever..the follow up pain for DAYS is grueling..I miss it...bout 2 day s a month I can do them hard...pre exhaust..don t atter..no miniscus...no cartilege...lightbulb en route...sigh

I started feeling signs of wear in my knees
a few years ago. I've since changed my leg workouts to higher rep lower weight, but still do the same exercises. I love to train legs, and will until my body won't.
Most importantly I would still like to be
able to squat and have full range of motion 10 or 20 years from now.

Ive always been a small guy Im only 185-7 but have a 405 squat 1rm and 325 DL for sets of 5 and it wasnt till I really tryed to bring up the wheels the body started to transform and all my lifts started to go up.
I always talk to the young guys at my gym and there goals are always they want to get bigger or they ask how do I get bigger bi's I say the same thing start squating

All through highschool I never trained legs much because I thought I didn't need to. Now I've been training legs hard for a couple years, and looking back it would have made the difference in getting a scholarship and not getting one. Not only am I stronger, faster, and able to jump higher but I just feel a ton more confidence on the court. Leg days are my favorite days in the gym, and all the roosters walking around are just more motivation to keep stacking the plates on.

Not only are you working legs, the core strength is worth it. I've noticed more definition in my abdominals from continuing to squat heavier. I'm at the point where I pretty much don't need to do much in the way of an "ab routine" because the compound exercises that work your core do a pretty damn good job.
