I am 5"9, 160lbs, and 4.9% bodyfat. I maxed out on flat bench yesterday and got up 295lbs. I was wondering if that was as impressive as I thought it was.

umm...i really think you should get ur bodyfat professionally checked...because theres no way u could be 4.5% bodyfat! Ud be so tired every day, sluggish, etc....Pros compete around that or even 5% and they feel like shit all day!

Give the guy a break. we all get excited about progress.

I think 320 would be impressive at your weight. I think 295 is pretty damn good and better than most people on the planet. I wouldn't say it is super impressive, but you are a strong guy for your weight imo.

How many guys on here can bench as close as you are to 2X their bodyweight I wonder? I can do 325 at 170. Close but not there yet.

yeah its impressive but who cares what others think!!!i lift for me.. to beat me.. to challenge myself.. if my best bench is only gonna be 350 so be it as long as i know that is my best..i could give a rats ass if little johhny thinks my lifts are impressive..just my .02

i'm 5'7 160lbs. with 10% bodyfat. My max is 285 on bench. you should do some competitions. In my first bench competition I got 2nd in the state of GA for my weight class.

FWIW, our coaches always LUV'D the guys who could double up their weight on the bench; I'm 280 and I ain't pushing up 560, I'll tell ya that, lol!

I got my fat tested by on of the hand held machines, so who knows how accurate it is. Bodyfat is besides the point, I live in WA and I always hear about bench press competitions at my local gym. I think I would get torn up though.

they have weight classes so you compete against guys you own size. you can hold your own raw, no doubt.

Man, you'd have a good showing for sure. Plus you never know till you try it, especially if train specifically for one. Give it a shot bro.

Hydroelectric impedance machines unfortunately aren't accurate that I've seen yet. I've seen daily fluctuations of 5 percent, either way at your bodyweight its a good lift.
