hey pullin, dawg, ironand whoever else i was doing bottom up bench (on the racks) and i was hitting almost 300 for 5 sets of 5 and i switched to a power rack bench with handles at a normal benchs height and now im at 275... should i go back to bottom up? or try to work through conventional presses (considering these are what you are judged on)? how the hell is it even possible to be weaker on regular bench than a bottom up?

im not 100% sure whats wrong lol ,how low were the racks from your chest ?

they were at chest height... i think it might be a mental thing...i dunno
correct me if im wrong on this . after the first rep when coming from the rack your completely resting the bar on the rack before starting the next rep right . when you lower the bar to the rack is it as slow and controlled as you do when you are lowering it to the chest ? if not that may explain your problem , lats are crucial to lowering big weight and a weakness there could be hurting your normal benching , if its not that its probablly a conditioning problem since your letting the bar sit on the rack for a second this gives you a short break and if not either 1 of those it probablly is a mental thing lol .

if all else fails try doing your old weight and try doing almost 300 as you put it for triples or so just use more sets , then slowly up the reps until your back to 5 rep sets .

i do them exactly the same so its all mental i think so i should do 300 for 3 reps 5 sets? regular bench or bottom up?

i was thinking of regular bench for 3 reps x 5 sets then try to add a rep after a few weeks and get back to 5 reps on regular bench
