Can one maintain cardio while bulking?

I'm in the military and I need to able to run. Sometimes short and fast, but sometimes longer endurance runs. Back in February, I was in some classes where I didn't go to work for PT in the morning. I didn't take it upon myself to run, but I was on Test E. When I got back to the unit 15 pounds heavier, I couldn't run for crap and messed up my leg doing so. It's better now, and I'm trying to get to a good point in my running. Do you think it's possible to at least maintain cardio while bulking?

It'll be harder to work on 2 goals at the same time, but you can definitely do it. Just make it a lean, slow bulk and get your cardio in check.

...and aas inherently are not really known for promoting cardio...water weight, increased muscle mass...all lead to difficulties in maintaining or increasing your cardio performance..

Being that your military and u have to do PT and u havw to do ur PT test I would keep my bulking cycles shorter. A 12-15 week bulking cycle is not optimal for you period. Keep it to 10 weeks eat clean u have to be able to get ur shit on and go. Dont know what branch of service ur in and tgis is the only bad thing I will say. PT is basic leadership period if u cant do.pt as its laid out for you how r ur troops supposed to follow your lead. If u want to get a little more in depth of what to do pm me and i cam give u some advise on how to work around it.

Maybe some EQ with your test E. Or some GW501516 and Alcar. I'm hoping my upcomming cycle doesnt hurt my cardio.

Hey old%stacked, I guess I don't have rights on here to send PMs. Maybe my account is new or something. Hey, you hit the nail on the head. I'm a SGT in the Army Infantry, and PT is something that I can't throw to the side just so I can look stacked. If you have ideas, I would love to hear them. I wouldn't mind throwing on a good 10-15 pounds, but I think it is unreasonable for me to expect to put on 20+ and be able to run with the best of them. Besides that, I PCS at the end of the year and I don't want to show up looking like a turd (but a muscly turd!).

DieselMan you are going to have to find a comfortable medium. You are not going to be able to just put on 15 lbs and still perform your job the way you need too. It would be different if you were a finance clerk or signal geek, but you picked Infantry. Like it or not the first time you fall out of a run your soldiers will think your a turd and so will your leadership. Remember, the Army is downsizing.

Like ABNRGR1 stated 15 lbs is not optimal brother. 10lbs and ur pushimg it. In my 20yr military carreer wich 13 where under teams the best time to bulk was when we got right back from deployment PT is a little slack for about 30 days or so but u know how it is. Once everyonw is back from block leave its on CSMS runs every friday and team runs or squad runs down the firebreaks. It took me 20yrs to out on about 50lbs and just a few of low test to loose close to 30 of it. When ur in its one or the other. I am not saying it cant be done, seen guys do it all the time but these whwre E7s and E8s thay could pencil in a PT test but u better be able to do those numbers on your second time around. Be careful who u buy from. Also remeber all the shit ur going to have to carry over seas also. The harder the target the harder the shot.

Good luck to u brother.

PS anyhing over 175lbs and your burnig in brother no two ways about it and jumping hollywood is not always an option.

I guess I'm not sure what to do then. What do you think of short bulking cycles? I'm looking online and I'm reading about 4-6 week cycles of test prop and maybe dbol. Though I do cringe at the thought of ED/EOD injects.

This is a very interesting Thread. Meaning that im trying to get buff but I also do sports that require alot of endurance. I would like to be updated on the progress.

Hey bro. I'm in the army too and did my first cycle of test e deca and dbol. You can still run for PT and what not just make sure you hit the gym everyday and eat well and often. I gains almost 30 pounds and still maxed my run. Good luck

You can do it its just going to take a little longer thats all. And like loco said your going to have to double up on yoir pt

Ok, one last question I've got for you guys. What if I were to do the long cycle of Test E and Dbol, but eat maintenance calories? Would I simply lean out, gain some muscle, but nothing too crazy? Maybe put on 10-15 and shed some fat? That would be preferable.

By the way, good responses. It's forced me to look at other options, widening my horizons, so to speak. Thanks!

Oh and Loco, that is insane. Good job dude.

Could run a 6-8 week prop/npp/dbol cycle...that would definitely make a difference. ed or eod are no big...just get some slin pins. If you're in the army and training like it sounds like you are, I guarantee you are lean enough to use 1/2" slin pins...don't even feel them going in.

Too much cardio reduces my muscle mass, no doubt about it.

I gained 15 lbs from 500 mg of test per week, started doing cardio and lost 6 lbs right away. it's tough to for me to eat enough to maintaine the weight gain, but my bf percentage is dropping and I like the look
