Does it matter if I get most of my protein from shakes?

lol if this is all you got, then your gonna have to make it work.... sounds like option #2 is no protein? Once u get cash flow go out and by a gang of meat.
 
Any nutritionist will tell you that you need to eat food and not drink shakes. Basically you have to indulge in food the way GOD made it and not how man made it. When you drink a lot of shakes you have to drink tons of water. In the medical system where I work a lady over heard me telling one of the ladies who work out to order some protein power to help her get extra meals in. I also told her that I didn't drink as much water as I needed to everyday. Well she scolded me, she said there are a lot of bodybuilders that are in here as patients with kidney problems. All the creatine and protein powders they consume and never drink enough water to keep their system flushed. Thats the reason they are in here, that kinda woke me up.

I have a few tubs of protein powder at the house, but I will quicker get a 16oz container of egg whites and drink that compared to using the protein powder. From what I understand your body absorbe the eggs better than it does the powder. Only side effect is it sometimes doesn't smell too good on the other end.

I agree with that.It's better to drink egg whites than protein powders.

One of the points mentioned on that link was that protein can be absorbed at a rate of 10g per hour I think it said, does that mean any excess protein consumed i.e I drink a 60g protein shake most of it will go to waste? or Will it stay in my system until it's all been absorbed?

I never drink as much water as I should I probally drink about 3 pint glasses per day, but I add dilute to it. But I have been drinking a lot of cranberry juice lately. Which is supposed to be good for the kidneys. :)

whey has the highest bioavailability of any known protein source

but you of course miss out on vital micronutrients when drinking shakes instead of eating foods
 
It won't make too much of a difference in terms of your protein intake bro. But you will be missing out on all the vitamins and minerals that comes with actual protein sources (fish, meat, etc). If you've got a multivit lying around the house that would cover you until your situation improves.
You will be alot more hungry from just taking shakes lol but apart from that I wouldn't worry too much, its temporary, plus when I'm cutting 3 of my 6 meals are basically shakes and its not that bad.

Yep bro just 1 multivitamin sitting in my cupboard ;) I'll ration it out for a week or so. :D
 
Stock up on eggs man! Hopefully in the uk u guys have a bj where the eggs r cheap. U might get tired of egg whites but Fk it.
 
I've got about 20 eggs in cupboard, but they go down so quickly, my mum goes mad at me she buys 4 crates when she goes shopping a few days later all gone! :p
 
When u get money . U need to buy 1. Eggs
2. Buy protien powder , in the us we have a bj's and they sell a 5pound bag for 33$!!!!
3. Chicken breast that comes in bags, will be cheaper since u need to remove skin and bones
4. Some tuna fish
With $100 and some change u can make it.
 
Its unfortunate you dont have any money... maybe you can rob some junkie or drug dealer ? Or sell fake shit to a junkie ? There's gotta be a way to make some quick cash .. Where are you from ?
 
I'm not gonna rob a junkie lol, I'll just wait it out until I get paid like I said I've got 5k of whey protein so it's not like I'm going hungry. :)
