Honestly, its something that is on the back burner right now. I will contact Floris to see if he can do anything about it but it may be a development problem and that would take much more then just Floris to fix it. Please keep in mind that I also have Floris working on other projects so everything needs to be prioritized.

Im sorry but I would fix it if I knew how but I dont. We are aware of the problem and will let you all know when the problem is being worked on and when it gets fixed.

Well, I know my two cents are not worth much But, I can't stand any thing else in my in-box!!!! Are we that bad we can't even sign on here to see what is going on. I know we all are busy but come on.. I was getting notes on threads I no longer needed to know about, so now that becomes junk mail!!

It's always an option to NOT have notification. Just click the appropriate box in your profile. I never have it clicked, otherwise that's all I would have in my inbox is shitty little 'your thread has a reply' emails.

I think its screwy that the default is to get emails, yet for PMs no email - I use it the other way around. If you dont visit the board daily it can be nice, but I visit multiple times every day, I dont miss anything

Ok, everyone has preferences and i prefer to use email notification for every thread on every board im on and no they arent all bbing and yes i still get email notifications from bmw performance boards, ford svt performace boards and custom stereo boards from years ago and i FUCKING LOVE IT!!!!!. It is a VERY VERY widely used and STANDARD, COMMON feature on all vBuiletin powered boards...meaning ITS NOT SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED or PROGRAMED and if it does it should be covered by vBulletin.

and to anyone giving me shit for requesting that a rudimentary, basic, std feature to work can just wait till something only they like not work to remember their own words...

oh yeah and learn how to use email filters.

i understand txlonghorn but if it functioned it would be EXTREMELY easy for you to turn it OFF in your profile and you would never get them unless you specifically checked it or susbscribed to a thread.
but trust me i know EXACTLY what you mean about email...i get more inferiority email then i ever thought possible mixed in with important email. i just want to know how they know i have a shitty mortgage rate, a 2 inch limp cock, ass loads of debt and that i really want bigger boobs naturally.

I know it's a pain and should be a simple fix, but the problem is when we our host moved us to another server. Not only did it fuck this site, it totally trashed our store website. And it took us a month to fix the store website. Yes it should work, but it doesn't and right now we have limited resources to fix things. That's the bottom line. If our host had done their job correctly (we found out it was their fault and they migrated us over incorrectly) we wouldn't be having these problems. But we do. All we can ask is patience and understanding from our members. Fortunately, at least imo, it's a very minor problem. I just look for the black dots next to the threads that let me know I've posted on them, and I check those posts first.

eMail doesn't just magically happy bro, the board needs to be setup with certain parameters, I have seen this problem on a couple other boards from bad mail server info input, so you'd sign up for the board and never get your email so you could complete registration. I run a mail server and a couple webservers, this is not magic, information has to be input somewhere.

Problem I last saw on another board was bad authentication information entered for the mail server, so no mail ever got sent. Either way I am on alot of boards as well, and I visit often enough I dont see the reason to really care, but I can see subscribing to a thread here or there as handy. If its a big deal, open up your email program and mail the URL to yourself

Apparently you aren't understanding what I'm trying to say or I am explaining myself too vaguely. I understand how the function works, I am a member of several boards, all of which have this as a default turned on...all of which I have turned off. So I have no problem with the email notification regardless of whether it's working or not. I was just explaining to the member who posted above me that it can be turned off. So yes, I understand how the option works and how to disable it in my profile. I don't think you are trying to be mean, but it is annoying having to explain myself several times about the same thing.

well said...i wouldnt make such a big deal if i didnt like this board as much as i do.

and i understand about isp's im a sr. network engineer for a geographically disparate web based aircraft and weapons system portal that is hosted on multiple flavours of unix and windoz and that have to be constantly syncronized, load balanced locally and geographically with 99% uptime.....its like standing on an ice cube and can get pretty freaky instantly.

props to a great site and maybe i just needed to vent, im under the hammer to find a viable alternitive to citrix metaframe xp and well, citrix is the shit.
