Knowledge is Power
Attention all Canadians! I can understand your pain & embarassment during these sad times. Hosting the Olympics & getting demolished by Team USA in medal counts & now in the highly coveted Ice Hockey event must be truly unbearable.

I figure even though you get free healthcare the least I could do is offer you all a free tissue to wipe your tears and blow your nose with to help pull yourselves together after these truly pathetic attempts to go for the gold.

Please PM me for a free tissue. If not please do the following

1. Stop whatever you're doing
2. Lift your right hand in the air
3. Cross it over your left shoulder
4. Give yourselves a nice pat on the back

Maybe next time folks :)

Yes , well done mmy American brother. Your team bested us a result of a goaltender who played out of his mind vs. a goalie who has "no business handling the puck".
As for the medal count.........if only Canada had the finances to develop and train as many athletes as the 'good ol' US of A, than we could perhaps be competitive in that category as well.
But alas, the U.S.A. is the"biggest ,the baddest, and the best" and the Olympic games is just another soapbox for all of America to stand up and cheer "U.S.A. .....U.S.A. "

But let me remind you of where your good ol' boys earned their skills.........that right Canada. Yes, that's right........our junior development , better known as the CHL which is made up of the Ontario Hockey league (OHL) , the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) and the Western Hockey League (WHL) are where the majority of your "AMerican Players" have developed their skills , and then were eventually drafted into the NHL.
So as you can see.......we Dumbass Redneck Canadians (eh) are good for something other than making Maple Syrup.

Agreed 100%,when it comes to hockey there is no better in the world from creating top players.I followed a few coming up out of Canada like Eric Lindros,Alexander Dagile, and many more.My hat goes off to Canada hockey.

That was all in good fun. I grew up playing hockey from 5 years old on. Had a short stint in Juniors & played with lots of Canadian dudes, several of whomever went pro. I played with Patrick Lalime (sp) before he got drafted by the Penguins & in a few pick up games with Rick DePietro (cocksucker) before he got drafted by the Islanders to name a few. It goes without saying they're the real deal & always will be.

No real disrespect meant by my post but I would still be glad to send a tissue to whoever might need one

That was a great game, why does olympic Hockey seem so much faster? I hear there are a couple different rules than in the NHL?

Olympic Hockey Rules Versus NHL Rules
There are key differences between the NHL and the Olympic hockey*rules.

The Shootout:
The NHL has adopted the shootout for regular season games only. During the Stanley Cup Playoffs, teams play overtime until a tie-breaking goal is scored.
In the Olympics, tied playoff games are followed by ten minutes of sudden death overtime. If the game remains tied, it is decided by a shootout. If the game remains tied after the first three shooters, any player can be chosen to shoot any number of times.
The Ice Size:
**Because it's being played in North America, the 2010 Olympic tournament will be played on NHL-sized ice.

A standard NHL rink is 200 feet long and 85 feet wide, with goal lines 11 feet from the end boards.
International ice is 210 feet long and 98 feet wide. Goal lines are 13 feet from the end boards. The extra room can sometimes lead a team to play a more passive "positional" defense, angling attackers away from the goal rather than pursuing the puck carrier.
Bench Strength:

NHL teams can dress a maximum of 18 skaters and two goaltenders for a game.
International games allow a maximum of 20 skaters and two goaltenders on each team.
Goalies with the Puck:

Under NHL rules, goaltenders cannot handle the puck behind the goal line, except in an area directly behind the net.
Goaltenders in international hockey can play the puck anywhere behind the net.
Icing:

If an NHL player shoots the puck down the ice from his own half of the center line, an opposing player must touch the puck first before icing is called.
International hockey uses "no touch" icing. The play is whistled down as soon as the puck crosses the goal line.
Protecting the Head:

In the NHL, there is no specific rule against checking to the head.
International hockey calls checking to the head as a minor penalty with a ten-minute misconduct, or a major (5 minute) penalty with a game misconduct.
Penalty Shots:

In the NHL, the player who was the victim of a foul must take the penalty shot, unless he is injured.
When a penalty shot is called during Olympic hockey, any player on the shooting team may be selected to take it.
Crease Violations

NHL players are allowed to stand in the goal crease as long as they don't interfere with the goaltender.
International referees will blow the whistle and move the faceoff out of the attacking zone if an attacking player is standing in the crease.
Fighting

NHL players are penalized five minutes for fighting.
Players fighting in Olympic hockey receive a match penalty and are ejected from the game.
Rules Against Obstruction

Since the NHL's crackdown on obstruction in 2005, some international tournaments have featured more hooking, holding and interference than an average NHL game. The international standard and NHL standard remain out of step.

The CHL is the best for devolping nhl ready players for sure! But he U.S college system play outstanding hockey aswell! The chl players also get a scholership to procede in a future of thier choice if hockey does'nt pan out! For example Duncan Keith gave up a full ride scholership to play for the kelowna rockets! Sure he had a chance to win the mem cup that year...but! he gave up a free education and that came from the bchl! But he sure chose right cuz where is he now!

Of course Jimbo, there are exceptions. But the CHL has become the proving-ground and development arena for the majority of NHL players.
Before the steady influx of players from Europe, the CHL provided almost 90% of the NHL talent.
That's why Montreal was so dominant for such a long time. They (Habs) had almost total Dictatorship over the Quebec Major Junior League . If you were French , and a good player.......guess where you were gonna play........

Despite Americas wealth, what some people dont understand is that American Olympic Athletes arent state or government sponsored like other athletes from other countries like Russia or China.

Most US athletes families bleed and sacrifice for years to support their childs dream of becoming an Olympian.

Just wanted to add that....
