If you could be a top Pro BBer, would you?

If you knew you had the genetics to be a top pro (as in like top 5 at the Olympia status - think Warren, Wolf, Dexter, Centopani, Kai, and of course Heath)...would you do it? Talking the guys who actually make enough money to where it's their sole career.

This means taking high doses of gear year round, high levels of hgh, insulin, maintaining an off-season weight of 300 lbs or so. And probably having to be on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) your WHOLE life after your career.

So if you absolutely knew you could, would you? This is just hypothetical...these guys, while idolized by a lot of gymrats and aspiring BBers, really do put their bodies through hell...

Nope I would not. The things these guys put their bodies through is just too much for me. Nothing is more important than my health.

Also the lifestyle these guys live is not a good one. You're traveling all the time guest posing, going to shows, and doing promotions for sponsors. So you're either doing this shit, killing yourself in the gym everyday, or eating till you almost puke 8 times a day. And at the end of the day I doubt they really make all that much money. Especially considering what they spend to look like that.

I dont believe that I would. I used to read all the body building mags growing up Flex, Muscle & Fitness ect.... in 80's & 90's. That life style just does not appeal to me at all. It's a crap ton of hard work & stress on your body for what seems to be little reward. Although I must say I do not read any of those mags anymore or follow who competes in Mr. O ect.... I could not name one if you asked me...nope not even who won Mr. O this year. So, I have no idea what the top guys make but I dont think it would be enough anyway.... but thats just my opinion.

Yes. If I knew I could, I definately would. All of us gym rats love walking around looking huge with the most freakish physiques we can achieve. I love walking in a room knowing im the most powerful, strong, and big individual in the room. It's that alpha male feeling knowing your the dominant man in the room. People get somewhat intimidated as well which I like. Being payed to workout and take gear is awesome even though a lot of these guys are miserable. Theres some who enjoy it though with a passion. I would only do it if I knew I'd train the rest of my life. I'm sorry, but although I respect Arnold, he's still turned to shit as age has caught up with him. Stallones in great shape for his age.

Current top BBer? No.

If the current top BBer body size was the same as it was in the late 1970's, then yes.

The top BBer's now are just ridiculously big, they just look unhealthy. Why would I want that?

Stallone's in great shape for any age my friend. But he is not or never was a top level bodybuilder. I would however do all the hard work, gear, and hgh that Stallone did to achieve all that he has if I knew I could.

You mean the ones that don't have to be gay for pay or do low budget porn (note: A LOT of female competitors fall into this category as well...) in order to eat/juice right? :p

Pro, no, Amateur, yes. Amateur BBers are what I like to see. There is more spirit to them in my opinion, they are not...worn down like the Pro's.

IF I was a guy, I wouldn't. It is so hard on your body and your long term health. I would be shredded (or try to be) but not in that way.

haha correct

There's no money in it. For me anyway, I work for an investment bank

For the top guys there is a good bit of money. Jay Cutler, Phil Heath, Dexter Jackson are definitely millionaires.

Maybe that's not enough money for you but it is for me...perhaps you're a billionaire?

They are millionaires who cant even enjoy it.

And chances are they do not have a healthy retirement to look forward to. Medical bills alone down the road may eat up millions.

My dad had one set of hospital bills that was like 1.4 Million total costs(Luckily BWC covered it).

Millions? I am a bit skeptical that they make that much. Then again I do not pay much attention to pro body building anymore. My question would be how am I going to feel at the end of my career? of course I'm an old fucker now & health/quailty of life means a bit more to me than it did when I was a young stud.

They are millionaires. Not 10s of millions, but net worth of a few million dollars for sure. Just with the $ from Jay's Olympia wins he is a millionaire, then sponsorships, guest appearances, investments (which he's big on), and the construction company he owns, yeah he's a millionaire. Dexter & Phil as well.

The argument wasn't over whether they could enjoy it, or the longevity of their wealth, but rather that they didn't 'make enough' for the Minister.

I would be very happy with a net worth in the millions.

What I put myself through to get it is another story...I'd much rather incur that much wealth in a manner that allowed me to live a healthy happy life....but then again if these guys LOVE bodybuilding, maybe they are living the dream and it isn't my place to say otherwise.

200k ...so that puts Cutler around 800k just from the olympia (I was thinking it was 250k which would have put him at 1 mil)...plus all of the other $$
