losing weight!! help

donjob

New member
5 weeks into test e at 600mg a week. how much should i have gained by now? i only gained a couple pounds thus far, and after taking a 4 day break of rest and relaxation, i come back weighing 3 pounds less. 2 days later, still 3 pounds less. i've plateuaed on chest, actually feeling weaker on legs today. now i know it can be one of a few things. overtraining, diet, rest or bunk gear. i know my diet's in check, my gear is good. i haven't done blood tests but have all the usual sides. i'm thinking maybe rest or overtraining. i'm just frustrated, seeing people making gains of 20 pounds. i know this shit isn't gonna peak and then i put on 15 more pounds in 6 weeks. why the fuck am i losing?! any help is appreciated, i've already changed up my training from a 5x5 type routine to more of a hypertrophy one. i'm taking next week off work to get some quality rest. hopefully this helps

its prob cals try overeat for one day eat whatever and whenever.... postup the diet

add 1/4 cup of almonds to 2 of ur meals

Any difference in the mirror? Because you could be just burning fat and puttin on muscle at the same time, wich could manifest itself by either maintaining the same weight, or even losing weight, but still adding lean mass.

that's what my buddy suggested. no difference in the mirror, but would 2-3 pounds be that noticeable? i was below 10% bf before i started this cycle, and still am, although i guess 2 pounds of fat is plausible. i'm only 170 though.

diet:

0500 - 1 scoop muscle juice with half scoop whey and 10oz whole milk (35g protein, 425 cals roughly, 54 carbs, 12g fat)

0730 postworkout - 1 peanutbutter sandwich with 2 slice whitewheat bread
1 ABB max recovery drink (35g protein 60 carbs)

1000 - either chicken and white rice or steak and baked potato

1200 - same as above or a chicken or turkey sandwich with mustard only
apple

1400 - 1 scoop muscle milk with 8oz whole milk (30g protein, don't know carbs and fat off the top of my head)

1600 - 1 scoop muscle juice with half scoop whey and 10oz whole milk

1800 dinner - steak and potatos (usually two) or chicken and rice or pasta. sometimes lean burgers on toast cheese only, no side

2000 - 1 scoop muscle juice in whole milk

2100 - 1 scoop muscle juice with half scoop whey in whole milk then sleep. rinse and repeat. diet is the same on off days. weekends are a little more lax, i try and get that much but i take the oppurtunity to sleep in. i'll wake up around 8 and have a shake then go back to bed. after that i only have a bout 12-13 hours in the day to eat as much as possible so maybe 200-300 cals less on the weekends?

to many shakes not enought real foood

if whole food is superior to shakes, then why even drink them? because it's near impossible to eat that much. especially with my job. macros are macros, and while i'm not saying you can live off shakes, they have their place. it's hard enough for me to get 4 whole meals in a day, that's why the other 5 or 6 has to be shakes. period. nothin i can do about it.

macros are macros?

just my 2cnts but I don't agree with donjob here. macros aren't all equal in the body's eyes. absorption is just one thing that jumps out at me.

definitely sounds like a diet issue though.

it was working before. i've just plateuaed on strength and lost 3 pounds. that's why i was leaning away from diet being the issue. i'll try to start replacing a couple of those shakes with whole food

Says the guy losing weight.

It's tough but you have to eat more whole food. Where there's a will, there's a way man. I only do one shake post workout, and sometimes I replace that with 2 cups of raw egg whites instead.

Absorption does matter. Amino profiles of different protein sources DO matter. Foods that will challenge your body a little to digest DO matter.

I know it sucks buddy but those shakes are really letting you down. 3J our resident nutritionist would freak if he saw that many shakes. Good luck my friend.

alright just started cutting down those shakes today. got a sam's club membership, have all my chicken in ziplock baggies in the freezer. 1.89 a pound! beef is cheap as hell as well. rotisserie whole chickens, 6 bucks. these next 9 days should be easy to eat all whole foods, just a shake upon waking and postworkout. once i get back to work though, we'll see. shouldn't be too hard, but i don't know what the hell i'm gonna do when we go out to the field for 5 days straight. proteinbars, instant oatmeal and peanutbutter i guess to supplement the shitty mres. i'll keep you guys posted on this thread over the following couple of weeks if the weight gain increases. thanks for the replies

what are the thoughts of the liquid to whole ratio?? i take in 280 gm protien and i normaly . go with 2 shakes 80-80 one in morn then after workout

Blood work dude. Blood work!! Problem solved. Go to private md labs and get the female hormone panel with testosterone for 60 bucks. Sounds like bunk gear to me. Since your only running test this will tell you if I'm right.

If you were growing with this diet then pateau'ed, thats because you need to up your diet as you add up lean mass. The shakes are too much. I would substitute all or them(xept pwo) for Something symilar to the 1000 meal.
Also around 6 weeks if you havnt deloaded, its about time to do it, since i can almos bet u started hitting it real hard once you started your cycle.

thechosenone, i mentioned in my first post that i have all the sides, and i put on a few pounds that i couldn't have done naturally. i'm sure it's not bunk gear. i've never in my life had pimples on my chest shoulders and back, now i do. also my arms. my skin is more oily, i have more aggression and i want to fuck every chick i see, even if they're not that hot..... yeah it's good to go. malave i think you hit the nail on the head with the deloading. i was thinking maybe overtraining? about 2 months before i started this cycle and up until now i was doing 5x5 on my heavy compound lifts, also going pretty heavy on accessory lifts. this past week i've dialed it down. changing my routine up. what i meant by i was growing on this diet though was the type of diet, not neccesarily the amount. i have been upping my caloric intake as i've gained. maybe not enough? i'm gona try and squeeze in some more calories, replace those shakes with whole foods, changing my training routine and i'm about to get a well needed week off from work. hopefully hitting all these bases will stimulate growth again.

sounds your diet and training all over the place... not only do u need to eat protein as "real food", but u also MUST have enough carbs in order for your body to process that protein.. not only take a week off work, but consider taking a week off from the gym or train eod for a couple weeks to give your body a chance to start growing

My bad. As everyone has already told you drinking all those shakes is not good for you. Not only does real food work better but that whey crap will start to give you some nasty shits after a while. It just digests really fast and gives you a short burst of nutrition. When, what you really need is food that is broken down slower and provides nutrition over a longer period of time. Now, with that being said, I will say that making gains from all those shakes is still completely possible. I've done it myself in the past, with less gear than your using now. I know you think your gear is gtg, and it may very well be. However, depending somewhat on your age, if you start training and eating like you are on gear, but actually are not, then the results will actually be worse. You will be training harder which should more stressful. You will be eating more which should cause you to gain weight regardless of gear use. It is a good idea to have blood work done during any cycle. Just to make sure your in good health and hormones (total T and e2) are where you want them. Especially when using a new source. Typically, when someone starts a cycle, they start training a little harder and eating a little better. These things alone can cause a natural spike in testosterone production. Which could give anyone a little extra acne and increased libido. Again, I'm not saying your gear is bunk. It's just that 600mgs of pharm grade test would have me feelin jacked. No way I'd be losin weight. Period.

i only train 4 days a week. chest monday, back either tuesday or wednesday, arms and shoulders thursday, legs friday. i was doing a 3 day split and just switched to 4 days to give arms and shoulders their own day about 3 weeks ago or so. should i go back to my 3 day split?
