My journey to get back in shape.

Just over 6 months ago I had my son, my second child, I have a girl nearly 6 years old also.
My pregnancy was a challenging one because I was sick throughout the whole time throwing up anywhere between 4-12 times a day - yeah, not good! I still had another child to look after so life was hard and I was drained all the time. I still made myself exercise at least 3 times per week pretty much until I gave birth. I only gained 7kg in my pregnancy, but as soon as I gave birth and started breastfeeding my appetite came back with a vengeance. My weight did go up!!!

So now with two kids, breastfeeding, hardly any sleep at night and almost no time to myself, my body is not what it was. Tomorrow I'll be starting my "get back into shape" log with pictures as often as possible.

I'll admit I don't look bad now, but I've eaten so much because I'm breastfeeding and doing so much that if I had a cleaner diet I'd look better - no pressure though ;)

I won't be using any supplements because I'm nursing, but my diet and training will be better (I hope). I'm looking to everyone for motivation and support to keep me going in my journey because it will be very challenging for me with the lack of energy, but I want this.

Pictures tomorrow so you know where I'm at.
Thank you guys :)

Hey! Good luck! I will be following...

After I had my son, I was also bf'ing and eating like a maniac. I just made sure whatever I ate was pretty clean and I actually lost my preg weight. My sisters were in shock because I was eating a lot. Your body needs those extra nutrients that you are losing during the nursing. Eating clean and cardio were my friends in losing the weight. During my preg I gained 40lbs! Now my son is almost 3 and I am 119lbs (have no idea how I got here, but I haven't weighed this much since I was 13). I always weighed about 125 pre baby.

Anyhow, I am def following. You look great now though Detour! What are your goals? What are your current stats?

You know I'll be following my friend ;)

I know how challenging these last few months have been for u, you've told me how drained & exhausted you've been, and somehow you've pulled through the most difficult days. I've seen your determination & strength. I know u can do this !
Even if some days you need to adjust your workouts due to the lack of energy, I know with a cleaner diet/training you can achieve your goals.

You do look great already, can't wait to see your transformation ;)

Hi Sassy, thanks for the encouragement, but my avi picture is where I'd like to get back to, not quite there yet lol! I understand the concept of clean eating and training, cardio isn't what makes me look like that, in my best shape cardio isn't my friend, I lose my tone and energy doing the kind of cardio needed to get real lean. I don't want to just be thin, I'm a lover of having a functional body and if I look good having a functional body I'm happy ;)

I don't normally do the weight/body fat thing for tracking progress because it's not indicative of my true progress, I tend to measure and use my eyes. I only know where my body fat lies when getting ready to compete. With that said here's my current stats:

Height 5'8.5"
Chest 36"
Waist >28"
Hips 38.5" (yeah!!!)
Biceps 12" (flexed)
Quads 20.75"

Bear in mind I eat A LOT and it's not been 100% clean. My lower half carries more naturally, I have a naturally "curvy" butt, the stats sound huge but it's not the full picture if that makes sense? My quads have decreased in size after I stopped competing. I loved having thick legs, but in retrospect they were slightly too powerful in comparison to the rest of me. I don't do bi's and tri's training, they get indirect work. I just want to sculpt down and diet will be key here.

Thank you Mrs P! Energy is the real factor, low energy with two kids and trying to get back into work will be a killer. My 5year old is so energetic and I like to be hands on with her so it's difficult. You have shown me great support and your words have kept me going, it's hard to say how much I appreciate that, so I'll send you mental waves.. You get that one? Lol you are one in a million though ;)

Ok, Just a few pictures for a baseline so you know where I'm starting, I couldn't get any pics of full body or my legs with my iphone - I'll get my husband to do more full body shots with his camera and I'll upload those soon. I just want to kick my arse into doing this.

Erm... where's my pictures? I tried copying them over from photobucket. I'll have to try and figure it out and do it again later, son is awake...

I agree with u on cardio D, I used to do lots of cardio, now I only do it it 2-3 times a week... Leaning out is definitely 80 % diet !! I know everyone says this, but it's sooooo true..
I am doing lots of cuircuit training & bodyweight & toning with my balance ball & I'm seeing great results... I still do my lifting routine, but not as much cardio, as I don't feel I need it.

Looking good Detour; I cannot wait to see your end results. You already have an amazing figure for just having a baby 6 months ago.
