My journey to get back in shape.

So today I managed to get in about 40 mins dance practice, I didn't get into the break dance freezes, my son decided to wake up :( so I had to do the quickest cool down ever and go get him. He just wanted to feed and play! This will be the kink in my plans, just not knowing how long I can do my activity while I do this with him home. I had fun, but miss going to a gym or studio to do these kinds of things. The things you have to do when things are limited aye!

I will say that I'm proud of the fact that I don't let the fact that I have to do these things at home stop me from doing them altogether. On the plus side, he slept until just after 5am today which is good, I usually wake up a few times a night to settle him.

You know...a LOT of women (*cough* my sisters *cough*)...let the excuse of "I have a kid"...stop them from exercising. Both of them were crazy in shape before they had a kid and they let themselves go. I try to encourage them...get them to start back. "I have a kid to watch/take care of".

If you really are motivated...you will find a way.

Yup, it's not easy, especially when I sometimes get just 3hrs sleep a night but, to me it's worth it.

Not me but your sister have no excuse...

Brilliant! I do squats and push ups and things with my boy in the baby carrier! I also use him like a kettlebell, he loves it! Used to use my daughter as a bench press and did plie squats with her etc.. I also have gone running with them in the buggie. I find what I can if I haven't done a formal workout - plus it's still quality time with them because they love the interaction.

My daughter wants "muscles like daddy". I sense a future NPC pro career in her future.;) Thank you for sharing your progress here. I always read what you ladies of ology post because I want to make sure I rear my daughter with a healthy self image. Her mom has severe issues with binging and purging and pretty bad body issues/self-esteem. I am determined not to let my daughter turn into her mom.

Detour, you look amazing!

I have one of those Kelty hiking backpacks and that's the only place my youngest used to sleep. I'd put it on, strap her in and climb the never ending staircase. That was tough, but she slept.....

lol, I used to do squads too with my little one in the baby carrier too when she was a baby, I now do my pull-ups most of the time at the playground while she plays.. I do get some wierd looks sometimes..lol

The point is, it's challenging at times & u get a lot interruptions, but even if u have little ones at home all day, u can still find the time... just have to be a little creative at times.

Just like your doing D ;)

Lol my yoga is more stretching, breathing and meditation. It's what keeps me sane on a rough day. Running is my thinking time, put on a good tune and run it out. I guess I use both for relaxation or stress relief than to be in shape.

I would love to get an instructor, I cancelled my gym membership though because I just can't afford it right now. Once I can afford an instructor I will start bulking a little.

=)

I love to run (can no longer do it due to a bad knee) but nothing clears my mind like a going for a good run outdoors.

In your cse Sassy since yoru trying to bulk, I would not do as much cardio, with cardio u drop bodyfat, but u won't build muscle.

U really need to have a proper balance between caloric intake, protien intake, and strength training in order to build some muscle.

I train at home with mostly dumbells, (I do have a full gym) u can get a set of dumbells & there are so many excercises u can do.
I also do lots of toning excercises using a stability ball, it really works well for toning, & doing concentrated excercises.

My son always wants to Join me when I exercise at home; he has his own set of 2lb dumb bells, a pilates body ring, his own yoga mat, 2 3lb kettle bells, jump rope, and exercise ball

When it's time to train at the track he gets in the inside lane completes his 2 miles and does push ups and runs up and down bleachers with me.

When I have races he does the kids race also.

I love him, he is too cute

great log D, looking foward to seeing your progress, I think you'll reach your goals in no time.
u have not lost your definition in your core, so u'll get there in no time.

Actually that is a good idea, I have a really tiny one bedroom at the moment and I HATE things being out in the open but a set of small dumbells should be fine.

Mr P!!! lol Your location is hilarious....

Thanks P, I still have a few bits that can be pinched quite easily - you just can't see it!
But thanks for the support ;)

Get the adjustable dumbells, so u could adjust the weight.

(Sorry D didn't mean to hijack your thread)

Just over 6 months ago I had my son, my second child, I have a girl nearly 6 years old also.
My pregnancy was a challenging one because I was sick throughout the whole time throwing up anywhere between 4-12 times a day - yeah, not good! I still had another child to look after so life was hard and I was drained all the time. I still made myself exercise at least 3 times per week pretty much until I gave birth. I only gained 7kg in my pregnancy, but as soon as I gave birth and started breastfeeding my appetite came back with a vengeance. My weight did go up!!!

So now with two kids, breastfeeding, hardly any sleep at night and almost no time to myself, my body is not what it was. Tomorrow I'll be starting my "get back into shape" log with pictures as often as possible.

I'll admit I don't look bad now, but I've eaten so much because I'm breastfeeding and doing so much that if I had a cleaner diet I'd look better - no pressure though ;)

I won't be using any supplements because I'm nursing, but my diet and training will be better (I hope). I'm looking to everyone for motivation and support to keep me going in my journey because it will be very challenging for me with the lack of energy, but I want this.

Pictures tomorrow so you know where I'm at.
Thank you guys :)
WoooHoooo..finally something worth following;)

Not so good today, young buck decided to wake me not once, not twice but three times in the night! I had to go settle him each time :( Then was woken by my husband's alarm at 5am because he has a business trip to Germany today. Not a lot of sleep was had, it's days like this one that makes it tough. Today I did another 40 mins of stretching, balances and stuff to work on my strength and flexibility - I'll get my old man to take pictures so you guys get what I mean :) I managed to do stuff that I couldn't before so something is going right :) :) :)

Break dance freezes, here's an example of one:

We have the bowflex adjustable weights at home :) When I was doing my contest prep for my last competition a couple of years ago, I used those and bodyweight exercises. the gym isn't the only way to do it if you cannot afford it or don't have the time to go..
