Old dudes only: How long can we keep this going?

I'm 45 and I have had to adjust my training and listen to my body. instinctive training. although I have never stopped training heavy but I have learned that some slight injuries that used to heal fast take more time now. however, in my case time off has not been the answer. ex: tendinitis around elbows does not heal with rest for me, but light exercises which bring blood to the area do work. we are all different, but my shoulders are the same, light weight exercises instead of time off work better for me. my 2 cents.
also, if I may suggest, increased protein and glucosamine also help. good luck.

I find that with what used to be my heavy compound movements the big three...I ve kicked deads to the curb. pre exhaust legs before racking up plates on the leg press and if my left delt is redlining on warm up weights 95-185 on inclines..pre exhaust that with dumbbells like the 80 s for 15-16 x 3 or 4 then pec dec cable flyes w 50 s or so... then incline with what s left..which may 135 x 3 or 4 sets of 30 25 22 20..reps and so forth. Whatever to get blood to as many fibers as I can in a 45 min w o. 1 big one 1 little one aerobics go home. 12 sets max for a big one 6-9 for a little one.

But I m good w the gay porn star look lol

Even the cheesy moustache Teutonic? :)

I feel the same way. I've had 2 shoulder surgeries on the left side and separated the right one 3 times. I've battled tendonitis in both biceps and have found that rest does not heal anything. I would have to say that I actually feel worse when I've tried rest only. Light exercise is the way to go. I'm only 38, but believe me when I tell you I feel like I've been hit by a truck. Marine corps, sports, weight lifting, physical job and recreational MMA training has really taken its toll.

I've never tried glucosamine because I figured it was a waste of money since there is no concrete evidence that it works for everyone. Do you actually notice a difference when taking it vs not? I'm currently taking tb500, but haven't started feeling any effects yet. Hoping it can get me back to training 100%. Well whatever 100% is for me nowadays any way.

not 100% sure yet on the glucosamine! but even mono hydrate helped me? obviously the fluid retention? I find with those things like creatine I didn't notice how well it worked until I stopped using it and realized how much it was actually helping around my joints? weird science.....lol

Best I can tell Glucosamine / Chondroitin does not do much of anything, seems like a waste of money. And on the other topic, I could not agree more that time off does not heal tendonitis or shoulder injuries. My best recovery has always been using bands 3-6x a day (in my office) to work blood into the area of injury, then keeping it light in the gym. Last issue, at my present age moms definitely can look hot.....that is the one good thing about growing old, there is a greater cross-section of women that look hot to me and I would love to bang.....
