quick question on ABS

diet - good example of what im eating is posted in the diet section
been lifting for 4 years now, my question is simple do u need cardio to have popping abs, my abs are thier but thier not popping and i find cardio puts me in a catabolic states i loose size off my chest,arms,back which is a struggle to put size on to begin with . i dont eat any sugars,sodium drink tonnes of water any tips on how to get the pop on my abs without loosing my muscles up top ??

i workout 5-6 times a week, in that time ill do abs every 2nd day for 10-15 minutes , currently i am doing no cardio for the exact reason that it sends my body into a catabolic state and im limited to my carb intake coz i have genetic predispostion to carbs pretty much i was told i cant eat them if i want to b lean ????????
 
Body needs carbs, jut clean ones,,popping abs as you call them are achieved by having low body fat, which is achieved by proper diet and cardio
 
ok so clean carbs being brown rice ??? , so how do i get around doing cardio and not loosingb muscle mass coz it happens to me ive read so many articles stating that cardio sends the body into a catabolic state when we all want to remain anabolic ?
 
Depends on your goals but its all got to do with diet if you are losing too much too fast then your taking muscle with it, you don't want to lose more than 1.5 lbs a week, so you adjust your carb intake, start by eating at you maintenance level and slowly decrease until you find the right spot where your only losing body fat and not muscle
