Should I go for TRT or not?

Yeah I've done a sleep study- no sleep apnea, no restless leg syndrome.

You guys should check out Your Brain On Porn- it was a real eye opener.

Basically the tiredness, brain fog, ED, low libido, anxiety, can all be related to excessive PMO (porn, masturbation, orgasm). You basically kill off your dopamine receptors by overstimulation.

Uhhh, it makes your palms hairy and causes you to go blind too, right??

I've yet to see one single study that isn't flawed all to hell indicating that HEALTHY folks watching porn/masturbating/having orgasms suffer any ill effects whatsoever. In fact, every study I've ever seen (I know there's a thread around here somewhere that I linked like 6 of them) indicates that the opposite is true. The only possible exception being porn in that it can desensitize folks to certain sexual stimuli as the brain becomes accustomed to a specific set of "ideal" scenarios (whatever kinds of vids you prefer), which can cause problems as A2M just isn't on the menu for most folks. ;)

OP: TRT is a game changer. You are already at levels low enough to feel like crap, why is this even a debate?

all i know is, i was a chronic masturbator for a few years and i felt run down all the time and depressed. read some articles on the subject and decided to take a month off and i can truly say my energy shot up, i was more alert and focused. i was also lasting longer in bed and got harder erections. placebo? possible but doubtful.

The notion that once I do TRT I can't really go back is a tough one for me to digest. Maybe I don't feel crappy enough?!? Don't know.

OP in all honesty TRT is not for you and should be the last thing you consider! I say this because you are 20 years old and your TT is 439ng/dl. You will not find a doctor who will treat you and at your age you are not yet through growing. You are feeling the way you are feeling because you took a pro hormone without doing any research and didn't realize what damage you could be doing to yourself. You need to go to the AAS section and find the sticky about doing a proper PCT and start there.

the op is in his 50's i think you're mistaking this for imaunatural's thread lol

I am almost 51 and my last 2 tests had TT of 280 and 290. Does that change your opinion?

I posted on the wrong thread, sorry it was my mistake. TRT for those of us who need it is a game changer, a year ago I could not make it through the day without a nap and still didn't have the energy to do anything. Now that I am dialed in I have a life again, it was a big decision to make because it is a life long commitment but a decision that I am glad I made.

Best of luck to you!

Why does everyone think im making these threads first you did it and now him...lol

Because you started a thread in the AAS section asking about starting TRT because you have a TT of 440 after doing a pro hormone cycle and not using a PCT.

Thanks for all the responses. I'm continuing to ponder.

There are a few things I haven't tried long term yet....

vitamins (I was also low on vitamin D on the blood tests)- did it for a few weeks but found it was making me put on weight fast so I stopped
No sugar diet- this would be a tough one
gluten free diet- another tough one

But I think that might be it.

For those on TRT- on a scale of 1-10, with 1 being so low you are suicidal, how do you feel most days, and how long through the day do you feel great?

2.5 years ago, when I was in a very crappy feeling cycle, I would say I was around a 3 or maybe 4.

Nowadays, I'm usually around a 6-7, so what Ive done has made a huge difference. But I have too many days where I crash and burn by 5pm, and struggle to not hang it up and go to bed. I'm now going on 2 weeks of feeling like this.

you guys who are on TRT, did you have these types of issues and are you still having these issues?

btw- Megatron, thanks so much for posting that thread on TRT overview. I now know more about this than my GP !

I can tell you through my own personal experience that when I eat clean and exercise I feel a world better than I do when I am not, I guess it is like the old saying "Trash in equals trash out). Before I started TRT I would rate how I felt as a 1 maybe a 2, I could not make it through a day without taking a nap and even then I still have no energy or desire to do anything. I could not make myself go to the grocery store, it was just too exhausting so I ate every meal out which many times consisted of fast food. It took everything I had just to get out of bed and go to work, I was existing not living and it sucked. I went to the doctor and learned that my TT was at 64, got started on TRT and within a couple of weeks my world changed for the better.

Even though TRT gave me my life back it still was not perfect so I would say that I was at a 5 maybe a 6, I had energy again but it only lasted about 4 days maybe 5 before I crashed and felt like ass. I learned from this board the value of pinning every 3.5 days instead of pinning just one a week. Although I tried my doctor would not allow me to self inject so I found a new doctor who would. Since being allowed to self inject and getting on a every 3.5 days injection schedule my quality of life went up to around an 8. I recently started exercising again and it has gotten even better close to a 9 now. I plan to start eating clean again here very soon and expect it to get even better. I have also found that simple doing 20 minutes of cardio 5 days a week has increased my energy level greatly.

There is not any one single thing you can do to better your quality of life, it is a combination of making small changes that all have a positive impact on your quality of life.

Thanks for the response Spunkey. I realize even those on TRT will have their good days and bad days. Just what is that range though? If I can be assured I'm going to have a lot of days where I'm a 10, then this might be hard to NOT do

for me...i was about a 3 before trt. not overly depressed, just lethargic and completely unmotivated to do anything. i just sat around and was numb to the world. no joy, no sadness, just nothing. and my levels were nowhere near as low as spunkey. i was between 299-350. i was 21 when this began, and i'm now 24.

I will also say that it takes a while to dial in your trt to the point where you feel good every day. it's a bit of a rollercoaster at first but nothing unbearable. first 6 weeks were great because it was kicking in and it was a profound difference in energy and just overall livelihood. i'd say i was a solid 9 during this time.

after about 10 weeks the estrogen started climbing and i started feeling a bit unstable...again, nothing unbearable i'd give it a 6. my e2 was at 70 with the ideal range being 20-40 for most. i began using anastrozole at .5mg 2x/wk for 2 weeks to drop my e2 then leveled off at .25mg 2x/wk. by week 14 i was feeling very stable. moods were generally the same every day, unless some douchebag pissed me off lol which happens often. I got back up to a 9. Now I bounce between 8-10 every day. I think of how i was before and how my girlfriend even put up with me. i am a completely new person.

Thanks for this. So what about HCG?

yes i use hcg at 400iu 2X/wk. i have no experience without it as i used it from the start. Nuts are remaining plump i will say.

I use HCG as well but only for the last three months, I have not noticed any difference in terms of how I feel or mood but I have noticed a difference in the twins. It is my understanding that by adding HCG it will allow your body to produce some Test on it's own so you are not completely shut down which in turn will raise your over all TT so you do not have to inject as much Test as you would without it.
