squats

I like to think I am, whenever I ask anyone at my gym to check my form they say it's fine. But most people at my gym don't squat and those who do don't do it well.

There was one of the football guys in there on day squatting 6 plates, for like an inch.

thats where the video camera is great, it will tell you the truth no matter if you want to hear it or not

Yeah, maybe I'll take my digicam to the gym sometime. At the moment it's in a different province though...

I try to squat as deep as needsize does on his video, maybe I am weird but I look forward to squats. They are really difficult and that is why I like them. The only negative is that I look like I am pressure testing my pants. If I could only do one exercise it would be squats.

the first time i saw myself on video i got my feelings hurt. I thought i was squatting deep til i saw the video. I wasnt even close. i made a commitment that day to start over and you know what? it payed big dividends. other than deads squats are the most important exercise you will do. they are a must for overall leg, hip flexor and glute strength/size. if your legs are growing so is everything else. I was gonna tape my squats tonight but my wife was not feeling well so i stayed home with her. family man, plus she got all the cooter in the house. =0)

I squat until I cant go any further. Im the only guy besides the trainer I train with that does it. It works your ass and way more of your body.

I feel like a cheat if I dont go all the way, but I used to do them normal until I got serious about legs and met trainer boy who has the best looking legs on the planet and also does full squats only.

Going all the way down is not bad for your knees either. Thats a training myth.

Normal squats I can rep 5 plates a side 6 times, full squats I can do 10 reps with 3 plates a side, so full squats are waaaaay harder and way better.

Thats me with 3 plates FOR 10 REPS. How many damn plates does he have on there!? He is not even big and he is full squating 6 plates a side!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!!!!..........!!!!!!!!................:freak:

thats from the 60s also. 600lbs. that guy is a 198er. no belt, no wraps no nothing cept his ass and the bar. normal squats as you call them are not squats at all. they are an ego thing so you can see the bar bend. my last workout i hit 805 for a single buried.

Tom Platz squated that low too but he had massive legs, really massive legs.
I just can't do it that low with out falling over backwards. My legs are too long and my torso is too short. Parallel is enough for me. 315 for 4 this week and it felt great.

Use lighter weight in order to do full squats. Anyone can do it as long as you have balance. Like the other guy said, normal squats are an ego thing, full squats are the only real kind.

Do you ever see a guy do half a bench press? Full range, or nothing. I dont do half anything., thats cheating yourself.

I train with a guy who is 6'6, he cannot do that. He can get to paralles, taller people have longer legs in proportion to their torso, which makes it very difficult. We have tried with light weight, but the weight does not matter he just cannot get into that hole without it looking like a good morning. The best squaters i have seen are tall guys who are built like short guys. Mule kind of fits that profie, i had a friend in college who broke 800 as a sophomore and never squatted heavy again, he was natural, and probably could have been a world class powerlifter.

No your not getting it I have a short torso even when I squat down, like I just did my center of gravity is behind my heels unless I lean foward suported by my hands. My legs from floor to belt line are 43", 16" from just my knee to my belt line and from belt line to my shoulders is only 16". It's just a black thing I guess?? Okay so when I drop into the bucket my shoulder can almost touch my knees. They aren't over my knees they are behind them as is my center of gravity. And like jcp2 said to try and hold that position my back would be leaning foward more then 45 degrees. I do the best with my body proportions.

you got bad form if you falling over. box squats will help a lot. they teach good form.

any body can squat deep. its all about form. i have one guy itrained who is 6' 5" with long ass legs. he only weighs about 200. he had similar probs but after getting him box squats for a few weeks he was squatting deep and started growing.
