Started TRT today being administered by primary care physician

Well I began my TRT today. I didn't get exactly what I expected. I explained my concerns about taking an AI and using HCG. He told me that with the doses we were using there was no need. This is contrary to everything I've read here and was told here, but I did not agrue with him.

I asked about self injections he said he would do that after we found the proper dosing under his care. He gave me a 200mg injection of test c and wants blood work done in 2 weeks to see my T levels.

So what is your TRT protocol? You may not need an AI if you inject frequently enough and small enough a dose. And for what it is worth, I don't use hCG although I am thinking about trying it.

He doesn't have a prtocol yet because he wants to see where my t level is 2 weeks from now after the shot of 200mg test c today. He said he wants to put my free T at about 10 the scale is 6.8-21.5 on my last labs ordered by him it was at 4.2

Off just one injection and two weeks later? That makes no sense. I would seriously question him on what he is doing. Pinning once every two weeks is terrible. You have been around here long enough to know that. I am sure zi am preaching to the choir.

yea i have to agree with megatron.. two weeks is almost two half lifes into the injection.. it makes no sense..

if he said 100mg a week, ok.. we could see what he means by two weeks out..

Yes i know what he's doing is not probably the best way I only know what i've learned here so maybe his way is good for an old man i don't know . I should be injecting every 3.5 days to prevent fluctuation of T levels. He said he tries to have his patients inject once a month. I figure if we get to a level of T that has me start feeling better I will self inject at my own pace once he gives me a script.

I am going to start looking for a endo but until then I'll try to work with him. I've ordered Armidex to have on hand in case I need it.

I tried leading him to the more frequency of injection with less amount but he didn't bite

I think you should ask him to explain how the half life of testosterone cypionate works. You might want to look up the answer in advance.

Because it has a long ester attached in the Cypionate form the effects of this steroid will last a very long time; for example, 200mg of Testosterone Cypionate will yield an active 100mg of testosterone even 12 days after the last injection.

So i received a 200mg injection today does that mean bloodwork in 2 weeks will show T levels equal to being administered only 100mg of test c?

Actually, the half life if Test Cyp is about 5 days. In 14 days you will have less than 50mg remaining of that I itial 200mg dose. And to check blood work two weeks after only one injectionnis not going to be very informative. It is very likely that your TT will be below your hypogonadal natural levels.

I have found many different half-life numbers given all over the place. I decided to fail safe and go with the shorter one since all that would do is smooth out the cycles even more if it was actually a longer half-life. Here are the various half-lifes I have found.

The FDA says it is 8 days:

The half-life of Testosterone Cypionate when injected intramuscularly is approximately eight days.
Testosterone Cypionate Injection, USP100 mg/mL and 200 mg/mL

This writeup on Steroidology says it is 15 days:

Testosterone Cypionate is the longest-estered testosterone available today. It has a half-life in the body of 15 to 16 days and is found as injectable oil.
Testosterone Cypionate | Steroidology.com

But here it says it is 5 days:

Testosterone Cypionate has a half-life of approximately 5 days when injected intramuscularly.

When I first started on TRT I was getting a 160mg injection once a week and found that by day 6 I was crashing and by day 7 I felt just like I did before starting on TRT. What your doctor is advising is dangerous and you should run not walk but run as far away from this doctor as you can.

My only choice for uroligist has an opening in September I have an appoinment with him for then. I live in a small town.

For now I will take what I can get from from primary.

Two weeks between an injection will hurt you more than help you.
No other way of looking at it in my opinion.

:edit:
You'd be better off splitting your 200 up to 100 a week or even 50 every 3.5 days if possible.
Again, just my opinion.

Had an appointment with urologist today he is taking over on my TRT prescribed 100mg test c a week will get blood work done 10 days after tomorrow's injection to start dialing in my protocol. (10 days after tomorrow will be after 3 weeks of TRT including the first 200mg injection from primary)

Really felt good after appointment he knows and understands everything I brought up to him that the primary didn't.

Sounds like things are looking up on your treatment. Hopefully the urologist allows you to self inject after he sees your bloodwork.
