Train less and grow more

Ya man I see people who will lift for two hours. I'm there for an hour tops.

Same here 40min-1.5hrs and only 2-3 X a week 1-2 muscle groups per workout and only 1 time a week.

I try to explaine to others. but they still rather workout 5-6 days a week. :-/

Im bigger then most of them and dont even eat meat! lol

Everyone is different. If you're getting good results, those being whatever you, personally are happy with, then keep rolling with what you're doing. If you're stalling, not progressing, going in to the gym and not feeling psyched or motivated, check out a few low volume routines and try one for a month or two. Worst case scenario, its not for you, but you give your body a break from the training you were doing and come back to it fresh as hell. Plus its hard not to see some progress with a totally different routine.

I agree with this, i was doing eight workouts a muscle group 3 sets 12 reps last set to failure. workouts were like two hours long and i was gaining 12 pounds a month. but then it started to slow down so now im three weeks in the 5x5 workout routine which is only 3 workouts per muscle each workout has different speeds and reps and man do i ever feel the burn and ts only with a moderate weight atm

crazyfmike, you are absolutely right that less is more.. i started training at 14 and up until i was 20 i used the training routines from muscle& fitness and all the other weider publications which is really high volume workouts. ate up to 8 meals a day, creatine, whey protein etc but barely made it over 200lbs. at 21 i started reading about dorian yates, the mentzer brothers and HIT training. was so skeptical so i took 3 weeks off the gym and then decided to give it a go. i made it to 215 over the next 5-6 months. ended pretty strong too... i was also doing some of strong man exercises too like tire flips, farmers walks & heavy deadlifts which will all add lots of muscle to anyone who tries them

I am also rocking 5x5 heavy then a light weightx11x7 then moderate weightx8to10x4 maybe a bw like pull ups or a ez super set w/ the last one like shrugs depending on the muscle I am hitting that day

I work 5 days a week 1.5 hrs including 30min of cardio so far so good :) If I looked like you cm I would slow it down also lol . I feel like I am not doing to much though I also don't feel like doing more after my workouts fo sho

I think this thread offers the best possible training advice for anyone not wanting to learn this the hard way. Right now I'm a natty lifter, while I study the threads on this board, but my gains have been phenomenal with this method. Im a 4 on 3 off guy its usually split up 2 on 1 off, 1 on 1 off ect.

Personally, it sounds like a lot you guys have been doing this for 20+ but this training type was publically ushered in by guys like Mentz and Yates.

i am on a 5 day 2 off.... and i have been for as long as i can remember. mos def going to change it up and give the more rest a try
