Last 2 months I have been goin ape shit on bodyparts. Tris, bis, chest, back, legs all on split: - 4-5 exercises 4-6 hard working sets
Just stompin the life out of them.

It takes a full 6 days to recover that body part.

Are you guys doin the same. :dunno:

I train one body part at least once a week, but the muslce I want more pump out it I train twice a week.

the debate about how many times a week to train a bodypart will go on forever.some things to consider are how many reps and sets each workout , if your training balls to the walls 2 times a week your PROBABLLY overtraining. if you have a seperate arm day consider that every time you hit chest/front delt you are working tris and everytime you hit back your working biceps so 2 back and chest days a week really means 4 arms day a week.
this is just my opinion but unless you are genetically gifted , on a heavy cycle of steroids or eating/training/resting to perfection most people would be better off with more rest than working a body part 2 times a week offers.

I guess I am asking what works for you?

At this rate of intensity training the same body part twice a week would be impossible for me.

How many exercises are you doing and how many sets?
On a scale from 1-10 ten being max how hard are you going?

I'm of the thought that you gotta try stuff out and see what works best for you and your body

I have been lifting over 30 years.
I used to do twice a week per part.

Maybe its just geting older or the extra amount of sets and exercises but my body no longer recovers less than 5-6 days

I do what Pinga said, I typically train each body part once per week except for the muscle that I am wanting to develop more. I love working my calves twice per week so I can't walk normal.

...and then thrers genetics..and how we EACH recover with or without aas.
I try to do a body part 2 in 10 days. I quess since I m euro trash I still think in terms of the decimal system.
I go 1, 2 days in a row then a day off..if i go 3 day s in a row I may take 2 days off weights..I still go to do say..aerobics, abs..calves..those forearms that are alway s neglected..got to find you r sweet spot.
Pinga has !

i used to hit each part, or try to, 2xwk.......but for the last few years, i do 1xwk, 45min, but heavy and hard.....so really im in the gym not much more than 3hrs/wk....this with tons of food and rest and iv grown alot more than before

if you are going to train a part 1 x wk, you gotta make that body part pay for it tho!

i do once a week per part. But very limited with the amount i do for arms and delts for the reason DADAWG.

He and pullinbig (he's not around anymore) are the reasons I stopped overtraining and started low volume back in '04. And that is why i was able to change my physique along with the gear I was using.

Like Teut said, alot of it boils down to genetics, but i agree, if you are working out balls to the walls every workout, most likely you're overtraining. Oh yeah, and he is Euro trash. :D

Besides, we ain't getting any older Pickle, why not spend less time in the gym an more time chasing ass (or whatever. lol)?

So RJ what happens to you when on aas vs off aas.
Do you keep the same splits?
Or does aas increase your recovery time and you move the W/O frequency foreward a bit?

Other factor is I am 69% slow twitch fiber (muscle Biopsy) which may allow more sets
without extreme fatigue but offer a slower recovery time after fatigue is reached.

i try and change up my routine every 12 weeks, but never based it on my AAS usage. I train balls out no matter what, but I never do high volume. Ever. I also never train a body part more than once a week. I let my body tell me what it needs and its always worked for me. I just think there is more rarity in people who can train high volume for max benefit than if they trained low volume. Again, whatever works for that person is best. IMO most guys won't even try a low volume approach for two reasons.

1. They don't think its enough to grow.
2. They don't train to max intensity.

Again, i believe if you are training balls out every time, you shouldn't even be able to have a productive workout if you train it again the same week.

As i don't cycle anymore its a moot point anyway, but even when I did, that's the way i did it.

Fair enough

Whats you opinion of fast twitch vs slow twitch in relation to training, recovery and frequency.

honestly, too much to think about there. I can only grasp the simplest of processes in this game. After 20 years, i don't have time nor the desire to try and fix what ain't broken. lol I know what makes me grow, and anyone else for that matter. I can only offer the advice and let them go.

Thats why i get a kick out of all these new ideas that come up. Most guys don't know there just written to sell magazines.
