ALA who is using it

Billy_Bathgate said:
You sure you disagree...cause Im NOT talking about ALA (the racemix, s- & r-...the typical stuff found everywhre)...I am solely talking about rALA.

rALA is what does good for the liver
rALA is what does good from glycogen uptake in muscle cells
rALA is what is a good antioxidant

sALA seems to have a more insulin like mimicing effect. Thats about the only thing I have seen possibly good about it.

I think ALA is not very good in a practical sence. The benefits of r- and s- somewhat condradict each other. Plus the heartburn and urine smell.

I like rALA and use it only. I dont get freaky pumps or anything, but something similar to what creatine loading would feel like. Very minor if that. The more important reason I use it is for increased sensitivity to insulin, the liver protecting properties, and the antioxidant properties.

There is a website somewhere that has cheap r- powder too. Like very cheap. I cant remeber it, but when I dig it up Im gonna get some and then run a GCMS on it at my school or send it to my lab to check it out.

Well billy you may be right again. As usual. For the s- and r- differences i have no idea about them. The study i read said that ALA doesn't support musclegrowth. I dont know if r-ala has anything to do with it. You may be right though.

Bro, Billy is one of the most informed members of this board when it comes to supplements, AS, Anti-e's and training. I wouldn't argue with him because he will innundate you with information that supports his position. :p

Iceburg, I believe you sell ALA correct?

Sorry man, but plain ALA is crap. s-ALA for one does the following:

Mimical properties cause spike in insulin, which may be good for PW but NOT when dieting.
Same properties also cause a LOWERED amount of glycogen uptaken by muscle cells.
Heartburn

Those 3 alone are enough for me not to by it. If perhaps sALA does benefit to liver protection, then so be it. But Ill just take more rALA to make up for it.

You may think Im trying to push rALA, as me and Ulter do in fact go way back. But to be honest, I didnt even discolse my source. My source sells rALA for dirt cheap in powder. I dont remeber what you sell yours for, but Im talking like 100g for 125 bux. That probally cheaper than what you have..but I dont really care, its also more effective and requires about 1/3 as much as racemic. Other sources are obviously AF, which is a great product (btw I know about the site you talk about, as I was the one that showed him it), and I believe Instynct also sells it.

I would love to see a study comparing ALA vs rALA at the same mg per mg basis showing ALA better and at what percent. Same mg per mg only. I do my own research, I dont go off what other studies have been posted if its a cool website or not. I stick with pubmed and my schools library.

Oh so I guess you really can put on 30 lbs of shredded muscle simply by eating a Nitro-Tech Bar and downing it with some Cell-Tech. All I am saying wiseguy is that if you are quoting studies out of a magazine like that than they hold no value to me.

Wise Guy probably thumbs through Muscle & Fitness and buys all the supplements that the BBer's are advertising figuring it must work if all these world champion BBer's are using it! :p

Listen, we all know natural supplements arent going to make you huge. My point was that the magazine shares studies about supplements that help or hurt bodybuilders. So the information does have value. And if you read Billy's most recent post ALA isn't that great for you. Its the r-ala that has the benefits. So stop with the bullshit comments.

And with the info posted above about r-ala, i still wouldn't use it till they have tested it on humans, cause the effects of it in rats dont mean shit to me.

And stop being a wise ass. Thats my job, as the my handle states. LOL. :D

Actually i have used a lot of different supplements for your information. For the past 2 years i have been juice free and have used many herbs, prohormones, vitamins, etc... If i had a digi cam i would post picks of myself as i look better physically than most of the members posting their pics on this board. Im not putting down steroids as i will be going back on them april 1st for the first time in 2 years. Im just saying i have had remarkable results using supplements like creatine, 4-ad, xenadrine, etc... The only reason im going back on the juice is because the past 6 months now i have been stuck at 160lbs at 5'8" and my body wont seem to go past that weight. But my results for being natural is incredible. Im at 6% bodyfat and my vascularity and muscle definition is incredible. I used juice for three years without coming off and never had a ripped look. I weighed 195lbs and looked like a monster with no definition. When i went off the juice a year after that i had lost 50lbs and was a skinny fuck doing cocaine and e like it was candy to a kid. I got myself back in the gym and have used supplements since for the past year and have put on 15lbs of LEAN mass. 15 pounds of LEAN mass, remember not water weight and fat, is what some people only put on in a year from juicing their brains out. So, supplements do work to an EXTENT. A natural extent. So dont post ignorant comments like that till you have all the info. Ok bitch.

Just added the bitch part to keep my argument from sounding so emotional. LOL. :) Dont take offense to it.

I got thicker skin than that Bro. "The only reason im going back on the juice is because the past 6 months now i have been stuck at 160lbs at 5'8" and my body wont seem to go past that weight". Wow! You're a big Boy! Looks like that Creatine is really working for ya!

I agree. Thats why I only read studies in humans or in vitro cells, etc. I dunno what ones you read, but there are plenty at pubmed dealing with humans.

Lets save all the rat studies for...that other board...LMAO

What's with the fucking comments? Did i ever say i was a big boy at 160lb? Im far from being big anymore. I used to be real big. Im not going for that look no more. Now im just ripped up and looking to have the perfect physique. Natural supplements have helped me greatly. They are just overpriced and that's why im going back on the juice.

Oh..I didnt even see them. I usually skip articles and studies posted on the boards by other people..lol. I like my own info :)

Yeah, keep pushing your point with Billy and watch what he says. You must have caught him in a light mood.

I dont have a disagreement with billy. Our argument on ALA has led to the conclusion that regular ALA is garbage, and it is r-ala that is beneficial. I never use r-ala so my opinion on it is of no use.

Bro I never personally atacked you and all I said was that you shouldn't believe the studies out of the current muscle mags. You had an attitude the whole time and not once did I say you were an idiot or anything like that. I am a couple years younger than you, but I won't resort to your childish name calling. Also my last post simply said I was talking about the R-ALA all along and you come back with what you posted to me and Authority. I hope you resolve your anger and as a certain wrestler once said 'Have a nice day".:baby:

Bro, don't even bother explaining yourself to this guy. He's just looking to reel people in to a useless debate.

i like hamburgers

nothing wrong with ala, just IMO rala is better and sala has some negative effects. whatever floats your boat though, just dont go dipping your pen in the companys dead horse
