Here's my story on testicular atrophy. When I went on Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) (androgel) at 10mg/day, my T levels jumped from sub 200 to over 800. I felt like a new man, and within 6 months, dropped 60 lbs, as well as tightening up. I was about 33% bodyfat at the outset, and am now down in the range of 10 - 12%, which took a couple of years. I noticed I was having more and more difficulty cumming as my loads were small to non-existent so my testicular size was seriously affecting my sex life. My doctor had actually measured my testicles at the outset, and told me they were about 1/3 of their pre-HRT size. I spoke with him about my issues, and he decided to put me on mega-doses of Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) along with clomiphene. CLomiphene was steady at 10 mg/day. Initially started with 20,000 iu's of Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) as a trigger shot. Afterwards went down to 10,000 iu's, every day, for a week. The boys had started to re-appear after a week of this therapy, where I noticed an improvement in sex, and their size was improving. I then went to 4,000 iu's everyday for a week. Third week was 2,000 iu's, every day for a week. Fourth week was 1,000 iu's for a week. After four weeks, I was measured, and testicular volume had almost returned to normal. I am on 1,000 iu's EOD now, and he says I can expect some continued improvement. To say I'm relieved is an understatement, and will stay on top of this issue as part of my TRT. Hope this helps someone out there, and these are dosage protocols from a research endocrinologist. I was followed closely with bloodwork. I expect to be on lower doses indefinitely.
He did indicate if necessary, he could resort to HMG, but preferred to try Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) first.
He said it was a matter of his being more comfortable with Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) and cost was higher for a long-term HMG program than HCG.
