beef jerky as a staple??

Nevermind...I just did some reading. Yes, women will chew the leather, but everyone used their teeth as tools. Men would carry heavy things with their teeth, cutting things, etc.

They did eat large amounts of dried and smoked salmon. I'm not aware of any other culture that eats large amounts of dried meat, though.

So while it may contribute to tooth wear, I can't say for sure.

Either way, I'd be interested in how well jerky is digested vs. a steak.

Hmmm....I'd think it'd digest about the same. Any delay may be because it's dehydrated.

I don't know of any studies on this though. I'm thinking if water intake is where it should be and we're not talking about store bought over processed stuff she should be okay.

However. I stand by my statement that jerky is a great quick fix and should not be a staple. Fresh cooked meat as far as I'm concerned is the way to go.

Salmon lox and cream cheese. Put 'em in the food processer and let it go till it's pink. Dip in the wheat thins and OMG! Sooooo good.

Okay. I'm off on a food rant again.......

I agree 100%.

The Inuit also chew rawhide to make leather. It has nothing to do with eating dried meat.

thats the way to go to make leather. very interesting. i would suspect that bad teeth is due to 1) leather making 2) no dental facilities 3) no water (for tooth paste)

Girl! You don't need to know how to cook to make some really good meat in a crock pot. :)

Rule of thumb: Meat (roast ribs whatever you wanna go with) some spices (however you want it to be flavored), you can even put the meat in frozen!. Add some liquid (again it depends on how you want it to taste: broth, wine, beer, water, bbq sauce...... choices are endless), set it on low and go about your day. :)

I put racks of ribs in diet coke in my crock pot. I don't even thaw them! Take 'em out and finish them off on the grill. That's it! People think I'm the best cook in the land! It was easy as all get out. All you need is to know how.

Actually, the native Inuits had some of the best teeth out of all tribes in all the world. And they were better dispite the heavy wear! Dental caries were a rare thing to the native Inuit, even though they didn't brush their teeth and heavily used them.

It's only when the Inuit started eating modern processed foods that they started developing rampent tooth decay. The lack of nutrients in things like white bread leads to bad teeth. When they ditched the marine oil, meat, salmon eggs, sea vegetables, etc and went for the processed foods their health suffered terribly. An important lesson to remember, IMO.

<----- That's me in my avatar lol. I'm a guy :(

But anyway...just make sure not to overcook any meats in the crockpot. While things like pot roast are goooood, they do tax the digestive system more than a medium rare steak.

TASTE....TASTE... i like bland HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA LOL [after rolling on the floor]

no but seriouly i get what you mean. hmmm,,, so i can stock up on some lean cutts of beef and just take em out frozen. thats like zero waste as in spoiling. thats cool.

alright, give me one recipe. play by play. liquid used = water. this will be i guess you can call it base recipe [the spelling looks wrong] i start with that an my experimentations of it, all the while writting down the concoction.

Hahahaha, of course I forgive you. I didn't realize Frosty sounded feminine! lol. It was an old nickname from high school since I always wanted a window open in the winter during social studies. It was after gym class, though lol.

No worries... :)
