Chest four days a week?

I lift weights 5-6 times a week.
Monday- regular bench
Tuesday- decline
Wednesday- incline
Friday- regular bench

Along with my chest exercises I work in a fair balance of arms, legs, back, and abs exercises, rarely getting sore in anything other than legs. Lately, I've been increasing my bench exercises by 5-10 punds every 3-4 weeks. The thing is, today, a man approach a smaller friend of mine that shares the same workout schedule as I and told him that he should only work his chest only once every three days. The man claims he has a doctor friend that lifts weight often and told him. Is what I'm doing ok, or should I switch my schedule according to this guy's advice?

brother i wouldnt work chest but once a week if you are a BBer type for mass,it takes a long time to heal those muscles, cause they are one of the larger ones in your body, needs at least 6 days to recover....

On the other hand if you are a powerlifter and want to gain strength, you should work chest 2 times a week, like heavy day on monday and light, lot of reps on thursday(speed day)

Your central nervous system also gets taxed when you work out. You have to give it a break in order to make gains also. Not just the muscles

What if I were to do regular bench on mondays and alternate incline and decline on thursdays?

It wouldn't work for me but it may for you. My point is really try not to work out more than 3 days in a row max so that your CNS has time to heal up. I'm playing with 2 on and 1 off now.

I like lifting week days. Since I've been lifting so often, I've felt the best I have ever felt in my life.

without rest no grow chest day should be 3 to 4 exercises in one day and done for the week you can do others on that day with it , sooner or later you will crash with all this lifting but I fuck n lift big no way I could keep up with 4 days a week

As previously stated, it would be best to keep chest at once per week. It takes more than 2 weeks for a muscle to be COMPLETELY repaired. Keep this in mind when planning your splits etc.

Training any body part 4 times a week is definitely to much unless your superman :) 5 to 7 days rest for each body part is much better IMO :biggthump

cheers GT

If you really want to build a nice chest then like everyone else is saying just once a week. I favor working chest on Saturday or Sunday. Since i'm always playing soldier in the military, this gives me best results. A lot of people I see in the gym tend to over train the Pecs.

God this is like every other dumb fuck in the gym that does nothing but bench and curls all day. Do chest once a week. There are way more body parts than chest to work. What about bi's, tri's, traps, back, legs, abs, forearms...You work those four times a week too?

And then they ask how the hell you're 'growing so fast' haha. It's like dude, I give the muscle time to repair and grow, it's not that difficult. AND here's a novel concept - I work my lower body just as hard (if not harder)!
