Keto Diet + Test E and Zero Pumps/Protein Q

yea
but he doesn't need to come off keto.. lol

well he's not really on Keto anyways ;)

he's running high protein and low carbs and thus doing the 'Atkins' diet and not a standard Keto diet anyways. you guys can keep calling it Keto if you want . I'm out :)

3J,

Is there anything I can do to help get better solid pumps w/out carbs? I use tons of beta ala, Cialis, L-arg. Tried various combos, nothing is working and it's making working out motivation hard cause I'm use to chasing the pump for sure. I'm on 750 test as well....

Have about 20-30g of carbs right before you work out. This will give you some extra energy for your workout. You will use the carbs during your workout so you don't have to worry about getting into ketosis again right afterwards.

Determine if you are insulin resistant to decide if you eat complex or simple carbs prior to your workout. This will drive the timing of when you should consume the carbs as well.

so youre talking tkd.. honestly the 20-30g carbs hes getting are likely trace carbs from veggies and such.. it wouldn't be practical.. if youre going to go keto, go keto..

Ur on that much shit and youre not getting pumps? Something is off

No, I'm only on 750 test per week for this cut. Before my work outs I've tried 2-4g L-Arg on 1 day, another day I'd take 10mg CIA, the next day I'd take a typical Pre-Scoop with some 1-1.5g Beta Ala. I'm not using them together, just tried them separate and the pumps are the biggest joke without the carbs. When I eat loads of pasta on my bulk or tons of oats, I get these insane pumps.

I'm prob taking in maybe 20-21g carb if that. It's more just a mixture from parts of cheese, some sausage, Whey Isolate ect...So I can't really time them all at once. It just builds up at the end of the day.

Tron was suggesting a targeted keto diet. You'd eat an additional 20-30g of carbs preworkout. Those would be completely used up by the end and you'd not go out of keto.

I prefer this. It worked well for me. If it doesn't kick you out of keto and gives you a better workout, why not do this?

Take a half scoop of Karbolyn pre workout and see what you think.

there is alot of nonsense going on here..

150g protein on keto??

what are you, a woman? lol

keto is high protein, high fat.. simple as that..

the lower the carbs, the higher your protein and fat intake should be.. minimum 250g protein in your case..

glycogenesis will not occur at 250g with an active lifestyle..

bring you cals down to 3k.. run keto.. and dont run it for long.. maybe 8-12 weeks max..

any longer than that, go ckd

I keep reading online that keto is high protein mod fat. I trust you'alls opinion more than anyone elses, so what is it?

As far as I know keto by definition is moderate protein high fat Atkins is high protein high fat but if your a body builder then I could understand if the protein had to be raised while on a keto diet imo all diets should be tailored to the person using that diet

how about protein?

As Roush has pointed out, the medical (keto was developed to help epileptics fight seizures) definition is high fat, moderate protein and low carb.

For body building purposes 3J believes keto can include high protein.

Semantics mostly.

It is stated that a keto diet needs to be low to moderate protein that is what by definition seperates it from the Atkins diet if protein is to high your body will be running of that instead of fats and your body running of fat is of course what keeps you in ketosis everything roush has said is correct there is no debating fact lol

The high fat and low carbs are necessary for your body to produce the ketones. I know that much. I have no idea if having too much protein would inhibit that. When I did it I kept my protien fairly high and the keto sticks said I was doing a keto diet. If your diet is making you ketogenic then it's a keto diet, right?

Found this here https://www.verywell.com/what-is-a-ketogenic-diet-2241628

"However, over time, some (perhaps most) people need to be more careful about the amount of protein they eat as (anecdotally) the bodies of many people seem to "get better" at converting protein into glucose (gluconeogenesis). At that point, each individual needs to experiment to see if too much protein is throwing them out of ketosis and adjust as necessary."

Which just reminds me how much I don't know about this shit. I forgot that protein could be converted to glucose.

If anyone wants to know more about Ketogenic Diets I would recommend getting your hands on Lyle McDonald's work. He covers it in great detail. :)

30 mins pre-workout

- Beet root extract
- citruline Malate (replace the L-arginine which only about 3% gets digested , whereas citruline will be 90% digested and convert to Arignine in the blood stream and thus produce Nitric Oxide)
- lots of Water
- Salt
- 30 g carbs , Take a half scoop of Karbolyn*

You'll get a pump with that (not anywhere near as much as you would on a high carb diet with full glycogen stores though). also , do NOT take caffeine or pre-workouts with stims , thats a vascular restrictor (which does not help with blood flow and pump), you want vascular dilation (beet root and nitric oxide will you give you that)

* as stated above , with targeted ketosis you can consume a small amount of carbs pre-workout and burn through them and get back in ketosis no problem

Anything other than karbolyn for the carbs? Maybe a easy source to take carbs from? I have beet root and everything else can be done.

IMO nothing beats Karbolyn. It's a complex carb that acts like a simple one: gives you quick, sustained energy.

Not sure what you mean by easy source; one scoop added to a preworkout protein shake. Done.
