I have been elsewhere for a week or so . But I love to see your threads give me somehting to read when you get a chance...

Also just to let you all know. I had scraped my forearm against my leg doin deads it left a red mark like blood and my girlfriend said I must have been pulln too much.

***I loved that comment I gotta a kick out of it because too much when on up :) ***

congrats on the progress with deads. tell you girly she aint seen nuttin yet. needsize hasnt been posting much lately. i think he may be busy with his new baby.

I tear my shins up all the time. sittin back at the bottom gives you more leverage but exposes the ol shin bone to some damage. =0)

yea i always scrape, i did deadlift today and i ripped my shins up pretty bad :( also... anyone know what causes spider veins? (i dont know if this is the right forum for this question but im curious)

I always tear up my shins.

I never even noticed it until one day someone asked if I was Ok and I had blood running down my leg :)

baby is keeping me kinda busy
I get the scraped shins everytime I dead, made me look kinda badass on stage for my show...I remember one time many years ago after I had just set a pr, chatting with my buddy in the change room. He had just squatted over 800lbs, and had blown all the blood vessels on his upper chest, and my shins were bleeding freely. A few teenagers walked into the changeroom, took one look at the crazy bastards sitting there, and left right away....

Varicose veins are a sign of ill health and poor blood flow.

Varicose veins are gnarled, enlarged veins (blood vessels) close to your skin's surface. The word varicose comes from the Latin root varix, which means "twisted." Any vein may become varicose, but the veins most commonly affected are those in your legs and feet. That's because you stand and walk upright, which increases the pressure in the veins in your lower body.

For many people, varicose veins and spider veins — a common, mild and medically insignificant variation of varicose veins — are simply a cosmetic concern. For other people, varicose veins can cause aching pain and discomfort. Sometimes the condition leads to more serious problems. Varicose veins may also signal a higher risk of other disorders of the circulatory system.

Varicose veins are a common condition in the United States, especially among older women. Women are more likely than men to have this problem.

Paul Dillet has them in his delt/pec area, some people just have 'em.

Yeah King Paul's varicose veins were nasty as hell, but were awe inspiring at the same time. Gunter's got it real bad on the inside of his right leg.

Thanks guys I know everyones busy thats why I havent been around. Yeah I love deads and those marks are nice, I know its weird. Its the same weird I feel when I look forward to putting the pin in myself. Some say thats strange but mentally its all part of the game :

I sat in my gym tonight after training Events on Sunday and Log Press on Monday. Garage door open, old metal fan blowing, sweating like crazy.

I sat there on that bench with my head hung low and I began to look at myself. Blood was dripping from the knuckle on my left thumb, from my right wrist, both forearms, and the entire place smelled like sweat and icy-hot. Maybe I felt like a warrior sitting there. Maybe I felt like just an average joe, wondering why everyone else doesn't put themselves through the same things.

Sometimes that least little bit of blood, sweat, pain, and tears...is what makes the Warrior human.

Do you think wearing shin guards (for soccer) while DL would work to keep from tearing up the shins? I started DLing a few years ago but as soon as I scratched my shins up I stopped because having scarred legs is not attractive for a female. I was told to do it with a sumo stance but once again that caused growth in my inner thighs which is not good for me.

Also would you recommend DL for a woman? Yes, I want to put on size but I need to keep what little curves I have. I have very narrow hips and no real waist line.

Excellent thread to bump, BG.

I honestly don't know what would be wrong with wearing shinguards doing deads, but you still have to be careful once you get the bar up to the knee area - I've always got a tendency to scrape up the bottom of my thighs doing deads.

Tuesday, after I'd done deads in the morning, I was bleeding from both shins. Since I'd gone at 6 in the morning, all the old people were giving me crazy ass looks - I had blood running down my right shin, an open cut on the left shin, and a huge blood spot on my shorts, that I'd wiped off my knuckle the previous afternoon doing chest. Then, I showered and went to class, but I couldn't get the blood to stop, so I had a nice red trail running down my right shin for that whole 2 hour final. It was AMAZING - I was loving every crazy look I got.

shin guards or knee highs will work. also put baby powder on your thighs from your knees to your upper thighs. this will make the bar slide like ice once the bar hits it. sumo nomally scraps shins worse than conventional becuase most are more upright in a sumo stance.

now as far as scarred shins go i think it is totally hot to a woman with battle scars. but i am not all there, thats why i am here. i like thick muscular women with scars. i know what it takes to get there.

good luck BG

Umm, BG, disregard pulinbig's above statement. Scars on a woman's shins is not attractive, period.

BG, I've seen your pics and you have plenty of curves, dont stress that!!
The shin guards would create a lot of extra resistance, and they could stick on the way up, which could lead to injury. Like pullinbig said, I would go with baby powder

Without arguing, I'll take a good woman either way, but I could greatly appreciate a woman who cares more about hard work and kicking ass than being a sissy.
