Old dudes! help me out with a question

ColourSgtBourne

55+ Old school lifter
Been lurking, time to post ...

Until about age 40 I lifted a lot, ate a lot, did my fair share of basic old school dbol/deca cycles, got big, but never ripped, as I was lacking in my diet education.

Then, family, life and running a business got in the way and I basically quit the heavy lifting and did your basic "Planet Fitness" thing.

A few years ago I got bored with that, went back to a basic gym and got back into heavy lifting. Muscle memory is a wonderful thing, but now I've hit the plateaus.

So ... what about getting back into the juice for a 50 year old? I'm not on any meds.

Experiences,? anything to watch carefully?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I would get some bloods done. Whats your blood pressure and cholesterol levels like?

Im sure your up to speed with the PCT and Aromatase inhibitor (AI) protocols?

Im 42 and considering my next cycle, like you, im old school and we never used AI's or PCT back then.

What percentage of body fat are you?

Basically it comes down to what sort of medical and fitness level you are at.

Me... i need to lower my body fat percentage a little, then im good to go.

BP 120/80
Chol 116 mg/dl
BF caliper measured at about 20%
Read all the stickies and have a good understanding of PCT and AI

I was considering a Test only cycle, but open to other ideas.

At 50 years old, if you begin to cycle again there is a very big chance that you will be forced to blast and cruise from here on out. Test only would be your best bet for recovery, but if you have used more than that in the past, you may be a little let down and want more...

So, before any further advice, is it worth possibly having to pin yourself once a week for the rest of your life? For some it is, and some it isnt

You don't believe there is any chance of recovery after the age of 50?

There is a chance. I do not doubt that at all. I am just saying, the more compounds you use, and the more suppressive they are, the less likely it is for you to recover. Combine that with naturally decreasing testosterone levels, and you are stuck in a bad situation.

No matter what you do, You never fully recover. Even if one cycle only takes away 1% of your maximum natural production, 10 cycles down the road, that adds up. testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) is a real possibility.

Another thing to consider is that he has hit a plateau, even considering his previous weightlifting experience. He may be at his natural potential for his age. If he is at his natural potential now, if he cycles, whether it takes 3 months or 6 months for it to happen, he will return to where he way to start with.

I guess there is always a risk associated with AAS use. However, i know plenty of 50+ year olds who cycle. There is even a chance a 20 year old might not recover.

I guess you just have to weigh up the odds and risk factors... I know ill still be cycling at 50 :)

The problem becomes the ability of the HPT axis to bounce back as men get older. Andropause is a very real clinical condition that happens to every man at some point. For most, the decline in natural test production begins to occur after age 40, so the ability of a 25 y/o to recover from a cycle is much greater than the ability of a 60 y/o. I've been on Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) since I was 40 (I'm now 45) so I've already resigned to the fact that I'll be pinning at least once a week the rest of my life or for however long I desire to enjoy the benefits of normal T levels.

There's nothing wrong with doing a cycle at age 50+ but it's realistic to expect that it might cause natural T production to permanently diminish. For me, I don't give a shit as long as AAS isn't impacting other areas of my health that are going to cause me long terms problems. I really view AAS and hGH as healthy and beneficial for most men if done properly. There's no reason men can't be strong, virile, and athletic well into what has historically been considered "old age". I'm going to be able to kick the ass of guys half my age for a damn long time.

Good info. Had my T tested on Wednesday and am still waiting on results. If I go on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) so be it, if I have to pin every week for as long as I care about it, I have no problem with that either.

Man just so it. Chances are u have low t already and even if u don't that stuff is going to hell soon. Just always cruise and add compounds every cycle and up the test. Then take a break at 250mg to 1g of test a week for a little

-so have you sorted out your knowledge gap in terms of diet now then?

or is the plan just to juice at 20% BF and blindly see where it gets you?

One thing that hasnt been mentioned is that with long term low T levels body fat accumulates and will not go away until the ''T'' issues are addressed....then you will begin to notice changes in your skin etc ...things that are ''normal'' like very thin skin in older men will begin to return to a more youthful appearance...I'm not talking 25 again but you will certainly see a big difference with in 6 months. I am 58 and am on 500mg a week of test and ''supplement'' as I want to with test suspension for the last 6 years...i have no plans to come off and will run until I need a nurse to pin me...lol...I am told regularly that I look in my mid 40's, still have a full head of hair and none of its grey....I have very few wrinkles either. Can't imagine life without it now

Where does 500mg/week put you in terms of TT and FT? Just curious.
